How to take, the dosage

In children under 6 years of age (including infants) – 1-2 injections of 0.05% solution in each nasal passage 1-2 times a day for 3-5 days (no more).

Interaction

Incompatible with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants.

Special Instructions

Should not be used for a long time, for example, in chronic rhinitis.

In colds where nasal crusts form, it is preferable to prescribe as a gel.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline and other components of the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, brain surgery (in anamnesis), pregnancy, lactation, children under 6 years for 0.1% solution (0.001 g/ml).

With caution: coronary heart disease (angina pectoris), diabetes mellitus, prostatic hyperplasia, hyperthyroidism, children under 2 years of age – for 0.05% solution (0.0005 g/ml).

Side effects

In frequent and/or prolonged use: mucosal irritation, burning, tingling, sneezing, dry nasal mucosa, hypersecretion.

Rarely: nasal mucous membrane swelling (more often with long-term use), palpitations, heart rhythm disorders, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, sleep disorders, visual disturbances.

In long-term use in high doses:depression.

Overdose

Symptoms: worsening of side effects.

Treatment: symptomatic under medical supervision.

Pregnancy use

Pregnancy and lactation should be used only after careful assessment of the risk-benefit ratio for the mother and fetus, and the recommended doses should not be exceeded.
