Papaverine is a myotropic antispasmodic (relieves smooth muscle spasms) drug.
Limits the tone and reduces the contractile activity of smooth muscles and therefore has a vasodilator and antispasmodic (relieves spasms) effect.
In high doses, it reduces excitability of the heart muscle and slows intracardiac conduction.

Composition
1 ml of the solution contains:
active ingredient: papaverine hydrochloride – 20 mg
excipients: dinatrium edetate (trilon B) – 0.05 mg, methionine – 0.1 mg, water for injection – up to 1 ml.
How to take, the dosage
The drug is administered intramuscularly or intravenously. Single dose for adults is 002-004 g (1-2 ml of 2% solution); interval between injections is at least 4 hours. Intravenous administration is carried out after dilution of 2% solution with 10-20 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution. For children aged 1-12 years the maximum single dose is 03.mg/kg of body weight.
Interaction
Decreases the effect of dopetite.
The effectiveness decreases with smoking.
Special Instructions
With caution and in low doses should be used in elderly and frail patients, as well as in patients with craniocerebral trauma, hepatic and renal dysfunction, hypothyroidism, insufficient adrenal function, prostatic hypertrophy, supraventricular tachycardia and state of shock.
The IV should be administered slowly and under a physician’s supervision.
Alcohol should be avoided during treatment.
