How to take, the dosage
The drug is administered intramuscularly or intravenously.
Interaction
Papaverine reduces antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa, reduces hypotensive effect of methyldopa. In combination with barbiturates spasmolytic effect of papaverine hydrochloride increases.
Special Instructions
The drug should be administered intravenously slowly and under a physician’s supervision.
Alcohol should be avoided during treatment. The safety of the drug in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.
Contraindications
Comatose state, respiratory depression, violation of atrioventricular conduction; age under 1 year; hypersensitivity to the drug. Glaucoma, severe hepatic insufficiency, advanced age (risk of hyperthermia).
With caution
States after craniocerebral injury, chronic renal failure, insufficiency of adrenal function, hypothyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia, supraventricular tachycardia, shock conditions.
Side effects
Allergic reactions, decreased blood pressure, increased activity of liver transaminases, eosinophilia, drowsiness, headache, nausea, constipation, increased sweating are possible.
Overdose
Symptoms: diplopia, weakness, decreased blood pressure, drowsiness.
Pregnancy use
The safety of the drug in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.
