CogAPET is a combination drug, the pharmacological properties of which are due to its constituent components.

Vitamin K1 is necessary for the synthesis of K-dependent clotting factors (factors 11, VII IX and X), which are destroyed by rat poisoning. During synthesis, vitamin K1 is converted to vitamin K1 hydroquinone (the active form of vitamin K1) and then to vitamin K1 epoxide and.vitamin K1. 

Vitamin K rodenticides inhibit the recirculation of vitamin K1 epoxide, causing a risk of uncontrolled bleeding due to a lack of functional P, Vll IX and X synthesis factors. The supply of vitamin K1 must be sufficient to activate the alternative enzyme hydrogenase pathway, which converts it to the active (hydroquinone) form.

Synthetic vitamin K1 strengthens the papilla and increases blood clotting, thereby preventing bleeding.

After metabolism in the liver, vitamin K1 is excreted with bile and urine.

Vitamin C has redox properties, has a positive effect on the hematopoiesis, ensures the normal condition of the walls of blood vessels, neutralizes and removes toxic substances from the body.

Composition

One tablet weighing 0.32 g contains: vitamin K1 (phytomevadione) – 50 mg, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – 20 mg, auxiliary substances: natural flavor enhancer, cellulose microcrystalline, anhydrous, magnesium stearate, iron yellow oxide, dextrose.

How to take, the dosage

CogAPET is used in dogs and cats as an antidote in case of poisoning by rodenticides from the group of anticoagulants, as well as anemia and hypovitaminosis K1 in the following doses:

– cats weighing up to 5 kg – 1 /2 tablets per day;
– cats weighing up to 10 kg – 1 tablet per day;
– dogs 1 tablet per 10 kg weight per day

Duration of the course is determined by the veterinarian (as a rule, at least 2 weeks).

CogAPET can be used in complex – treatment with other symptomatic agents.

Contraindications

No contraindications or adverse effects of the drug have been established.
