Biological properties

The antigens of cell walls and metabolic products of E. coli in contact with the rectal mucosa and anogenital skin increase local tissue resistance to pathogenic microflora. The drug stimulates the T-system of immunity, phagocytic activity of leukocytes and reticuloendothelial cells, nonspecific immunity factors, reduces exudation during inflammation, normalizes the permeability and tone of blood vessels, stimulates regeneration of damaged tissues.

Hydrocortisone when applied topically has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. When applied to the affected surface it reduces swelling, hyperemia and itching.

Indications

Treatment of severe itching and inflammation in the anal area due to hemorrhoids, anal fissures, eczema.

The drug stimulates the T-system of immunity, the phagocytic activity of leukocytes and cells of the reticuloendothelial system, nonspecific immunity factors, reduces exudation during inflammation, normalizes the permeability and tone of blood vessels, stimulates the regeneration of damaged tissues.

Hydrocortisone, when applied topically, has anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effects. When applied to the affected surface, it reduces swelling, hyperemia, and itching.

Special instructions

Contains lanolin: may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis). When using ointment and latex condoms simultaneously, the strength of the latter may be impaired, which reduces their reliability.

Composition

1 g of ointment contains:

Active substances:

phenol-inactivated microbial cells of Escherichia coli (500 million),

hydrocortisone 2.5 mg.

Excipients: lanolin, petroleum jelly; phenol (preservative).

Pregnancy

Pregnancy
There is insufficient clinical data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Prescription of drugs containing glucocorticosteroids in the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided. A number of studies have shown an increased risk of developing cleft palate in newborns whose mothers took glucocorticosteroids in the first trimester of pregnancy. Prescribing the drug in the second and third trimester of pregnancy is possible only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus and baby.

Breastfeeding period
Hydrocortisone is excreted in breast milk. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during prolonged or high-dose use of hydrocortisone

Contraindications

● hypersensitivity to active substances or other components of the drug;
● children under 18 years of age;
● use for fungal diseases in the treatment area;
● specific skin diseases (syphilitic, tuberculous process; gonorrhea);
● viral diseases (for example, chickenpox) in the area where the drug is applied;
● reaction to vaccination;
mycosis, perioral dermatitis and rosacea at the site of application of the drug.

Side Effects

The drug uses phenol as a preservative, so allergic reactions are possible in patients with hypersensitivity to this component.

Interaction

With the simultaneous use of Posterizan® forte ointment and other drugs with glucocorticoids (tablets, drops or injections), the side effects described above or the side effects of corticosteroids may increase.

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been reported.

If accidentally swallowed (in children), gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea) may occur.

Long-term use of high doses increases systemic resorption and therefore the risk of systemic effects of hydrocortisone.

Storage conditions

In a dry place, protected from light, at a temperature of 0–25 °C.
