Pharmacodynamics
Azoximer bromide has a complex action: immunomodulatory, detoxifying, antioxidant, moderate anti-inflammatory.
The basis of the mechanism of immunomodulatory action of Azoximer bromide is a direct effect on phagocytic cells and natural killers, as well as stimulation of antibody formation and synthesis of interferon-alpha and interferon-gamma.
Indications
Cytomegalovirus infection
In adults and children from 3 years old for the treatment and prevention of infectious and inflammatory diseases (of viral, bacterial and fungal etiology) that do not respond to standard therapy, both in acute and remission stages.
In complex therapy:
- acute and chronic recurrent infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory tract, inner and middle ear;
- allergic diseases complicated by recurrent bacterial, fungal and viral infections (incl.
- for rehabilitation of patients who are sick often and for a long time (more than 4-5 times a year).
In the form of monotherapy:
- for prevention of recurrent herpetic infection;
- for seasonal prevention of exacerbations of chronic foci of infections of the oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory tract, inner and middle ear;
- in immunocompromised people for prophylaxis of flu and other acute respiratory infections during the pre-epidemic period
- for correction of secondary immunodeficiencies resulting from aging or adverse factors.

Active ingredient
Azoximera bromide
Composition
1 tablet contains:
Azoximera bromide – 12 mg;
Ancillary substances: Mannitol – 3.6 mg, povidone K 17 – 2.4 mg, lactose monohydrate – 185.0 mg, potato starch – 45.0 mg, stearic acid – 2.0 mg.
How to take, the dosage
Use the drug only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the instructions.
If there is no improvement after treatment, or if symptoms get worse or new symptoms develop, you should talk to your doctor.
Orally and sublingually 20-30 minutes before meals 2 times a day daily: 1 tablet for children over 10 years of age and adults, ½ tablet (6 mg) for children from 3 to 10 years of age.
If necessary, it is possible to carry out repeated courses of therapy in 3-4 months. If the drug is repeatedly prescribed, its effectiveness is not reduced.
Recommended treatment regimens
Sublingual
For treatment of adults:
- influenza and acute respiratory infections – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;
- inflammatory processes of the oropharynx – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 10 days;
- acute exacerbations of chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract, paranasal sinuses, chronic otitis – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 10 days;
- allergic diseases (including pollinosis, bronchial asthma), complicated by recurrent bacterial, fungal and viral infection – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 10 days.
For the treatment of children from 3 to 10 years:
- influenza and acute respiratory infections – on ½ tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;
- inflammatory processes of the oropharynx – on ½ tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;
- allergic diseases (including pollinosis, bronchial asthma), complicated by recurrent bacterial, fungal and viral infection – ½ tablet 2 times a day for 7 days.
For the treatment of children over 10 years:
- flu and acute respiratory infections – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;
- Inflammatory processes of the oropharynx – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days.
- acute exacerbations of chronic diseases of the upper nervous system – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days.exacerbations of chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract, paranasal sinuses, chronic otitis media – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;

For the prevention of adults:
- flu and acute respiratory infections in the preepidemic period – 1 tablet a day for 10 days;
- relapsing herpetic infection of nasal and labial area – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 10 days;
- .exacerbations of chronic lesions of the oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory tract, inner and middle ear – 1 tablet once a day for 10 days;
- secondary immunodeficiency resulting from aging or from unfavorable factors – 1 tablet once a day for 10 days.
For the prevention of children from 3 to 10 years:
- influenza and acute respiratory infections in the preepidemic period – ½ tablet daily for 7 days;
- recurrent herpetic infection of the nasal and labial area – ½ tablet 2 times daily for 7 days;
- acute exacerbations of chronic infections of the oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory tract, inner and middle ear – ½ tablet once a day for 10 days.
For the prevention of children over 10 years:
- influenza and acute respiratory infections in the preepidemic period – 1 tablet a day for 7 days;
- recurrent herpetic infection of the nasal and labial area – 1 tablet 2 times a day for 7 days;
- acute exacerbations of chronic infections of the oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory tract, inner and middle ear – 1 tablet once a day for 10 days.
Oral
For the treatment of adults:
- diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract – 1 tablet 2 times 10 days.
To treat children over 10 years of age:
- infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract – 1 tablet 2 times 10 days

Interaction
Azoximera bromide does not inhibit CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6 isoenzymes, cytochrome P-450, so the drug is compatible with antibiotics, antiviral, antifungal and antihistamine drugs, glucocorticosteroids and cytostatics.
If you are taking the above-mentioned drugs or other drugs (including over-the-counter ones), consult your physician before taking Polioxidonium.
Special Instructions
If an allergic reaction develops, stop using Polioxidonium® and consult a physician.
If it is necessary to stop taking Polioxidonium®, abortion can be performed immediately, without gradually reducing the dose.
If the next dose of the drug is missed, its subsequent administration should be done as usual, as indicated in these instructions or as recommended by the doctor. The patient should not administer a doubled dose to compensate for missed doses.
Do not use the drug if there are visual signs of its unsuitability (defective packaging, color change of the tablet).
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms
The use of the drug Polioxidonium® does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, operating moving mechanisms).
Contraindications
- High individual sensitivity;
- pregnancy, breastfeeding period;
- children under 3 years of age;
- acute renal insufficiency
- acute renal failure;
- common hereditary lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.

Cautions

Pregnancy use
