How to take, the dosage

The drug Ondansetron is prescribed 8-32 mg per day, in the form of tablets, syrup, suppositories, or injections. The dose and method of administration are chosen individually.

Interaction

Caution is required in coadministration: with CYP2D6 and CYP3A isoenzyme inducers – barbiturates, carbamazepine, carisoprodol, glutethimide, griseofulvin, dinitrogen oxide, papaverine, phenylbutazone, phenytoin (probably other hydantoins), rifampicin, tolbutamide; with CYP2D6 and CYP3A isoenzyme inhibitors – allopurinol, macrolide antibiotics, antidepressants (MAO inhibitors), chloramphenicol, cimetidine, estrogen-containing oral contraceptives, diltiazem, disulfiram, valproic acid and its salts, erythromycin, fluconazole, fluoroquinolones, isoniazid, ketoconazole, lovastatin, metronidazole, omeprazole, propranololol, quinidine, quinine, verapamil.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended to inject in the same syringe with other drugs.

The injectable forms are diluted only with the recommended solutions.

Compatible with infusion solutions of sodium and potassium chloride, dextrose, mannitol, Ringer.

Before administering them, make sure that there are no large particles and color changes (if the container allows); precipitate contained on the walls of the ampoule (has no effect on activity and safety) is dissolved by vigorous shaking; ampoules are not autoclaved, protected from exposure to light.

Contraindications

Pregnancy I trimester, hypersensitivity to ondansetron.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal system disorders: constipation/diarrhea, dry mouth, hiccups, transient increase in AST and ALT levels.

Nervous system and sensory organs: headache, dizziness, spontaneous motor disorders and seizures, visual acuity disorders, extrapyramidal disorders (in parenteral use).

Cardiovascular and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): syncope, chest pain, in some cases with ST-segment depression, bradycardia, arrhythmia, arterial hypotension.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, bronchospasm, laryngospasm, angioedema, anaphylaxis.

Others: fever, sensation of heat, blood rush to the face, hypokalemia, hypercreatinemia, local reactions (pain, redness and burning at the injection site); burning in the anus and rectum (suppositories).
