Miramistin, 0.01% solution 150 ml

Miramistin® has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action, including hospital strains resistant to antibiotics.

The drug has a pronounced bactericidal effect against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp, Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc.), gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp. etc.), aerobic and anaerobic bacteria determined as monocultures and microbial associations, including hospital strains with multiresistance to antibiotics.

It has antifungal effect on ascomycetes of Aspergillus and Penicillium genus, yeasts (Rhodotorula rubra, Torulopsis gabrata etc.) and yeast-like fungi (Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Pityrosporum orbiculare (Malassezia furfur) etc.), dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton schoenleini, Trichophyton violacent, Epidermophyton Kaufman-Wolf, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, etc.), as well as other pathogenic fungi, in the form of monocultures and microbial associations, including fungal microflora with resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs.

It has antiviral action and is active against complex viruses (herpes viruses, human immunodeficiency virus and others).

Miramistin® is active against sexually transmitted pathogens (Chlamydia spp., Treponema spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc.).

Effectively prevents infection of wounds and burns. Activates the regeneration processes. Stimulates the protective reactions at the application site by activating the absorptive and digestive function of phagocytes and potentiates the activity of the monocytic-macrophage system. It has a pronounced hyperosmolar activity, as a result of which it stops wound and perifocal inflammation, absorbs purulent exudate, contributing to the formation of a dry crust. It does not damage granulation and viable skin cells and does not suppress marginal epithelization.

It does not have a local irritant and allergic properties.

Pharmacokinetics

When administered topically, the Miramistin has no ability to be absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes.

Indications

Sore throat, Periodontitis, Inflammation in the mouth, Laryngitis, Herpes, Purulent wounds, Angina, Trichomoniasis, Stomatitis, Haymorrhoid, Otitis, Chlamydia, Tonsillitis, Disinfections, Urethritis, Skin infections, Fungus

For use in surgery, traumatology: – Prevention of suppuration and treatment of purulent wounds; – Treatment of purulent inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system. For use in obstetrics, gynecology: – prevention and treatment of suppuration of postpartum injuries, perineum and vaginal wounds, postpartum infections; – prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases (vulvovaginitis, endometritis). For use in combustiology: – treatment of superficial and deep burns of II and III degrees; – preparation of burn wounds for dermatoplasty. For application in dermatology, venereology: – treatment and prophylaxis of pyoderma and dermatomycosis, candidiasis of skin and mucous membranes; – individual prophylaxis of sexually transmitted diseases (including syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, genital candidiasis).

For application in urology: – complex treatment of acute and chronic urethritis and urethroprostatitis of specific (, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea) and nonspecific nature.

In dentistry: – Treatment and prevention of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth: stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis; – Hygienic treatment of removable dentures.

For use in otorhinolaryngology: – complex treatment of acute and chronic, maxillitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis; – complex treatment of acute pharyngitis and/or exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis in children from 3 to 14 years old.

Composition

Active ingredients:

benzildimethyl-myristoylamino-propylammonium chloride monohydrate 100 mg.

Excipients:

Purified water – up to 1 liter.

How to take, the dosage

Topically. The product is ready to use.

Instructions for use with the spray nozzle package:

1. Remove the cap from the bottle.

2. Remove the included spray head from its protective sleeve.

3. Attach the spray tip to the bottle.

4. Activate the spray tip by pressing again.

Surgery, trauma, combustiology. For preventive and therapeutic purposes irrigate the surface of wounds and burns, loosely tamponize wounds and fistulous passages, fix gauze swabs moistened with the drug. The therapeutic procedure shall be repeated 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. The method of active drainage of wounds and cavities with daily consumption of up to 1 liter of the drug is highly effective.

Obstetrics, gynecology. In order to prevent postpartum infection it is used in the form of vaginal irrigations before delivery (5-7 days), during delivery after each vaginal examination and during the postpartum period – 50 ml of preparation in the form of tampon with 2 hour exposition during 5 days. If women are delivered by caesarean section, the vagina is treated immediately before the operation, the uterine cavity and incision are treated during the operation, and in the postoperative period tampons moistened with the drug are inserted into the vagina with exposure for 2 hours for 7 days. The treatment of inflammatory diseases is carried out as a 2-week course by intravaginal administration of tampons with the drug, as well as by the method of drug electrophoresis.

Venerology. For the prevention of venereal diseases the drug is effective if it is used not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. To introduce the content of the vial with the help of urological applicator into the urethra for 2-3 minutes: for men – 2-3 ml, for women – 1-2 ml and in the vagina – 5-10 ml. Treat the skin on the inner surfaces of the thighs, pubis, genitals. After the procedure it is recommended not to urinate for 2 hours.

Urology. In the complex treatment of urethritis and urethroprostatitis it is injected into the urethra 2-3 ml of the drug 1-2 times a day for the course of 10 days.

Otorhinolaryngology. In case of purulent maxillary sinuses – during puncture the maxillary sinus is flushed with sufficient amount of the drug.

Tonsillitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis are treated by rinsing the throat and / or irrigation with a spray nozzle, 3-4 times a day. The amount of the drug per rinse is 10-15 ml.

In children. In acute pharyngitis and/or exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis irrigation of the pharynx shall be carried out using a spray nozzle. Children aged 3-6 years old – 3-5 ml per irrigation (one press of the spray head) 3-4 times a day; 7-14 years old – 5-7 ml per irrigation (double press) 3-4 times a day; over 14 years old – 10-15 ml per irrigation (3-4 times press) 3-4 times a day. Duration of therapy is from 4 to 10 days, depending on the timing of remission.

Stomatology. In case of stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis it is recommended to rinse the mouth 10-15 ml of the drug 3-4 times a day.

Interaction

When used concomitantly with antibiotics, there is an increase in their antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the drug.

Side effects

In some cases, a slight burning sensation may occur at the injection site, which disappears on its own after 15-20 seconds and does not require withdrawal of the drug.
