Miramistin, urological applicator solution with gynecological nozzle 0.01% 50 ml

Miramistin® has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, including antibiotic-resistant hospital strains.

The drug has a pronounced bactericidal effect against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp, Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc.), gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp. etc.), aerobic and anaerobic bacteria determined as monocultures and microbial associations, including hospital strains with multiresistance to antibiotics.

It has antifungal effect on ascomycetes of Aspergillus and Penicillium genus, yeasts (Rhodotorula rubra, Torulopsis gabrata etc.) and yeast-like fungi (Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Pityrosporum orbiculare (Malassezia furfur) etc.), dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton schoenleini, Trichophyton violacent, Epidermophyton Kaufman-Wolf, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, etc.), as well as other pathogenic fungi, in the form of monocultures and microbial associations, including fungal microflora with resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs.

It has antiviral action and is active against complex viruses (herpes viruses, human immunodeficiency virus and others).

Miramistin® is active against sexually transmitted pathogens (Chlamydia spp., Treponema spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc.).

Effectively prevents infection of wounds and burns. It activates the regeneration processes.

Stimulates protective reactions at the site of application by activating the absorptive and digestive function of phagocytes and potentiates the activity of the monocytic-macrophage system. It has a pronounced hyperosmolar activity, as a result of which it stops wound and perifocal inflammation, absorbs purulent exudate, contributing to the formation of a dry crust. It does not damage granulation and viable skin cells and does not suppress marginal epithelization.

It does not have a local irritant and allergic properties.

Pharmacokinetics

When used topically, miramistine has no ability to be absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes.

Indications

Tonsillitis, Sore throat

Surgery, traumatology: prevention of suppuration and treatment of purulent wounds. Treatment of purulent inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system.

Obstetrics, gynecology: prevention and treatment of suppuration of postpartum injuries, perineum and vaginal wounds, postpartum infections, inflammatory diseases (vulvovaginitis, endometritis).

Combustiology: treatment of superficial and deep burns of II and IIIA degree, preparation of burn wounds for dermatoplasty.

Dermatology, venereology: treatment and prevention of pyoderma and dermatomycosis, candidiasis of skin and mucous membranes, foot mycosis.

Individual prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, genital candidiasis).

Urology: complex treatment of acute and chronic urethritis and urethroprostatitis of specific (chlamydia, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea) and nonspecific nature.

Dentistry: treatment and prevention of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity: stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis, periodontitis. Hygienic treatment of removable dentures.

Otorhinolaryngology: comprehensive treatment of acute and chronic otitis, maxillitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis.

In children aged 3-14 years old it is used for the complex treatment of acute pharyngitis and/or acute exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis.

Composition

Active ingredient:

benzyl dimethyl [3-(myristoylamino)propyl] ammonium chloride monohydrate (in terms of anhydrous substance) 0.1 g;

Ancillary substance:

Purified water – up to 1 liter.

How to take, the dosage

Topically. The drug is ready for use.

Surgery, traumatology, combustiology. For preventive and therapeutic purposes irrigate the surface of wounds and burns, loosely tampon wounds and fistulous passages, fix gauze swabs moistened with the drug. The therapeutic procedure shall be repeated 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. The method of active drainage of wounds and cavities with daily consumption of up to 1 liter of the drug is highly effective.

Obstetrics, gynecology. In order to prevent postpartum infection it is used in the form of vaginal irrigations before delivery (5-7 days), at delivery after each vaginal examination and during the postpartum period the preparation is used in the form of 50 ml of tampon with 2 hours of exposure during 5 days.

In women delivering by caesarean section the vagina is treated immediately before the operation, the uterine cavity and uterine incision are treated during the operation and tampons moistened with the preparation are applied in the vagina during post-operative period with exposition for 2 hours during 7 days. The treatment of inflammatory diseases is carried out as a 2-week course by intravaginal administration of tampons with the drug, as well as by the method of drug electrophoresis.

Venerology. For the prevention of venereal diseases the drug is effective if it is used not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. To introduce the content of the vial with the help of urological applicator into the urethra for 2-3 minutes: for men – 2-3 ml, for women – 1-2 ml and in the vagina – 5-10 ml. Treat the skin on the inner surfaces of the thighs, pubis, genitals. After the procedure it is recommended not to urinate for 2 hours.

Urology. In the complex treatment of urethritis and urethroprostatitis it is injected into the urethra 2-3 ml of the drug 1-2 times a day for the course of 10 days.

Otorhinolaryngology. In case of purulent maxillary sinuses – during puncture the maxillary sinus is flushed with sufficient amount of the drug.

Tonsillitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis are treated by rinsing the throat and / or irrigation with a spray nozzle, 3-4 times a day. The amount of the drug per rinse is 10-15 ml.

In children. In acute pharyngitis and/or exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis irrigation of the pharynx shall be carried out using a spray nozzle. Children aged 3-6 years old – 3-5 ml per irrigation (one press of the spray head) 3-4 times a day; 7-14 years old – 5-7 ml per irrigation (double press) 3-4 times a day; over 14 years old – 10-15 ml per irrigation (3-4 times press) 3-4 times a day. Duration of therapy is from 4 to 10 days, depending on the timing of remission.

Stomatology. In case of stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontitis it is recommended to rinse the mouth 10-15 ml of the drug 3-4 times a day.

Interaction

When used concomitantly with antibiotics, an increase in their antibacterial and antifungal properties has been noted.

Side effects

In some cases, a slight burning sensation may occur at the injection site, which disappears on its own after 15-20 seconds and does not require withdrawal of the drug.
