Sulfetrisan is a combined antibacterial drug for parenteral use. The combination of the components of the drug provides a wide range of its antibacterial action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. Erythromycin is an antibiotic of macrolide group, the mechanism of bacteriostatic action of which is associated with blocking of protein synthesis and disruption of formation of peptide bonds between amino acid molecules in the microbial cell. It is active against Gram-positive (Stapylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp.) and some Gram-negative bacteria (Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp. and Mycoplasma spp.). The action of erythromycin is enhanced by a combination of sulfadimethoxin and trimethoprim, which, along with action on Gram-positive microflora, are highly active against Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Haemophilus spp, Klebsiella spp.,). Having a synergistic effect and increasing the activity of each other through a sequential effect on the metabolism of n-amino-benzoic acid and folic acid in the microbial cell, the combination of sulfadimethoxin and trimethoprim is effective against microorganisms, poorly sensitive to sulfonamides. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid and has anti-inflammatory, desensitizing and antitoxic effects. After intramuscular injection of the drug, its antibacterial components are easily absorbed from the injection site and penetrate into most organs and tissues of the body, reaching maximum concentrations after 2-3 hours. Erythromycin is excreted mainly with bile and partially (about 15%) with urine in unchanged form, trimethoprim and sulfodimethoxin – mainly with urine in unchanged form and as metabolites (15-29%), dexamethasone – mainly as metabolites with urine (about 75%) and bile.
Indications
Sulfur for animals is an additional source of sulfur to the daily diet, it is also used in case of metabolic disorders, to prevent skin and hair diseases in dogs, cats, decorative rabbits and rodents. Addition to daily diet accelerates hair growth (especially during moulting), contributes to its shine, intensive pigmentation, prevents hair breakage and dandruff.
