Pharmacotherapeutic group: antibacterial combination drug.
Amoxicillin is the active ingredient of Sinulox – a semisynthetic antibiotic of penicillin group.
The mechanism of antibacterial action of the antibiotic is inhibition of functional activity of bacterial enzymes of transpeptidases involved in the binding of the main component of the cell wall of microorganisms – peptidoglycan, which leads to the death of bacteria.
Clavulanic acid inactivates penicillinase of penicillin-resistant microorganisms and thus restores bacteria sensitivity to the bactericidal action of amoxicillin in concentrations that are easily achieved in animal tissues after administration of the drug. The combination of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid has a broad spectrum of antibacterial action against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus spp. (including strains producing β-lactamase), Corynebacterium spp, Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Peptostreptococcus spp., Escherichia coli (including β-lactamase producing strains), Salmonella spp. (including β-lactamase producing strains), Pasteurella spp, Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Campylobacter spp.
Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid after oral administration are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and penetrate into most body organs and tissues. Active ingredients of Sinulox are practically unmetabolized and excreted from the body mainly with urine and to a lesser extent with bile. According to the degree of impact on the body Sinulox refers to moderately hazardous compounds (4th class of hazard according to GOST 12.1.007).
