Sodium sulfacetamide monohydrate

Auxiliary substances:

Sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate 1 mg

1 M hydrochloric acid solution to pH 8.0

Water for injection to 1 ml

How to take, the dosage

Take 1 -2 drops into the conjunctival sac 6-8 times a day (every 2-3 hours). The course of treatment is 7-10 days.

The number of instillations can be reduced as the condition improves.

In therapy of eye diseases caused by Chlamydia trachomatis the dosage regimen is 1 drop every 2 hours and local administration of sulfonamide should be combined with systemic therapy.

Interaction

Sulfacetamide increases the effect of indirect anticoagulants.

The combined use with procaine, tetracaine, benzocaine reduces the bacteriostatic effect of sulfacetamide. Diphenin, para-aminosalicylic acid (PASC), salicylates increase its toxicity.

Incompatible with silver salts.

Special Instructions

Patients with hypersensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonylurea or carbohydrate inhibitors may have hypersensitivity to sulfacetamide.

The overgrowth of microorganisms insensitive to sulfonamide as well as fungal flora is possible.

The antibacterial activity of sulfonamides is reduced in the presence of high concentrations of naraaminobenzoic acid in the presence of large amounts of purulent discharge.

The therapy with sulfonamides should be discontinued if allergy symptoms occur, as well as if pain and other signs of infectious inflammatory process increase, the amount of purulent discharge increases.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machines:If vision gets blurred after installation, one should refrain from driving vehicles and engaging in potentially dangerous activities requiring high concentration and quick psychomotor reactions until visual acuity is restored.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, children (under 2 months).

Side effects

Allergic reactions, burning, lacrimation, thread, itching in the eyes, transient blurred vision after injection, nonspecific conjunctivitis, development of superinfection, severe allergic reactions to sulfonamides (Stephen-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermolysis, fulminant liver necrosis, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia).
