Picloxidine is a derivative of biguanides, antimicrobial agent, has antiseptic action. It is active against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Eberthella typhosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Shigella dysenteriae, Bacillus subtilis, Chlamydia trachomatis, some viruses and fungi.
Pharmacokinetics
In topical administration systemic absorption of picloxidine is low.
Indications
Adults and children from 0 years:
bacterial infections of the anterior part of the eye;
dacryocystitis;
prevention of infectious complications in the postoperative period after surgical interventions in the anterior eye region.

Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, systemic absorption of picloxidine is low.
Special instructions
To prevent contamination of the drug solution during instillation, patients should avoid contact of the tip of the open bottle with the eye and skin.
To prevent the drug from entering the systemic bloodstream through the nasal mucosa, it is recommended to apply pressure with your fingers on the inner corner of the eye for 2 minutes after instillation.
If several local ophthalmic drugs are used, the interval between instillations should be at least 15 minutes. Cannot be used for subconjunctival injections or for injection into the anterior chamber of the eye. Pictorid-SOLOpharm eye drops do not change the color of contact lenses (including soft hydrophilic ones), however, wearing contact lenses is contraindicated in case of infectious diseases.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery
After instillation, temporary blurred vision is possible, which may affect the ability to drive a car or operate equipment. If similar symptoms occur after instillation, the patient should wait until vision clarity is restored before driving or operating machinery.

Pregnancy
Since the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied, the drug is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side Effects
The development of allergic reactions manifested by conjunctival hyperemia is possible.
Interaction
If it is necessary to instill several drugs into the conjunctival cavity, the drugs should be used separately with an interval of at least 15 minutes.
Overdose
There is no data on drug overdose.
If excess amounts of the drug come into contact with the eyes, rinse the eyes with sterile saline solution.
