How to take, the dosage

Adults and children over 6 years of age: 1 spray of Nasivin® Sensitiv nasal spray dosed 22.5 mcg/dose into each nostril 2-3 times a day.

If symptoms increase or do not improve within 3 days, consult a physician. At the recommended dose without consulting a physician, use for no more than 7 days. Doses higher than recommended should only be used under a physician’s supervision.

Interaction

The drug slows down absorption of the local anesthetic drugs, prolongs their effect.

When using the drug Nazivin® Sensitiv within 2 weeks before prescription of MAO inhibitors and within 2 weeks after their withdrawal, during treatment with tricyclic antidepressants or other drugs that contribute to an increase in BP, an increase in BP is observed.

The co-administration of other vasoconstrictor medications increases the risk of side effects.

Special Instructions

Avoid getting the drug in the eyes.

The drug should be used individually to avoid spreading infection.

Impact on driving and operating machinery

After long-term use of rhinitis remedies containing oxymetazoline in doses higher than recommended, general effects on the cardiovascular system and the CNS cannot be excluded. In these cases, patients should exercise caution when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

With caution the drug should be used in patients with elevated intraocular pressure, chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension, angina pectoris, arrhythmia, chronic renal insufficiency, patients with prostatic hyperplasia with clinical symptoms (urinary retention), pronounced atherosclerosis, in hyperthyroidism, diabetes, pheochromocytoma, as well as in patients who received MAO inhibitors during the previous 2 weeks and within 2 weeks after their withdrawal, tricyclic antidepressants, bromocriptine.

Side effects

Local reactions:

≥1% to < 10% – burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, severe nasal congestion (reactive hyperemia) after the effects of Nazivin® Sensitiv have passed, visual disturbance (if in contact with eyes). Prolonged continuous use of vasoconstrictors may lead to tachyphylaxis, nasal mucosal atrophy and recurrent nasal mucosal edema (medicated rhinitis).

The cardiovascular system:

from ≥0.1% to < 1% – increase in BP, tachycardia; possible – palpitations.

Nervous system disorders:

from ≥0.01% to < 0.1% – headache, insomnia; possible – dizziness, anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbance (in children).

Other:

possible – nausea, exanthema.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, increased BP, tachycardia, CNS depression.

Treatment: performance of symptomatic therapy.
