Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Mycoderil®, topical spray, 1% is an antifungal agent for external use, belonging to allilamines class. Its active ingredient is naphthifine. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of squalene-2,3-epoxidase, which leads to a decrease in the formation of ergosterol, which is part of the cell wall of the fungus. Naftifine, affecting squalene epoxidase, does not affect the cytochrome P-450 system.

Naftifine is active against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum, yeast and yeast-like fungi (Candida spp., Pityrosporum), molds (Aspergillus) and other fungi (such as Sporothrix schenckii). Against dermatophytes and aspergillus naphthifin acts fungicidal. Against yeast fungi the drug has fungicidal or fungistatic activity depending on the strain of the microorganism. Naftifin has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms causing secondary bacterial infections.

Naftifine has anti-inflammatory properties that help to quickly disappear the symptoms of inflammation, especially itching.

Pharmacokinetics

When used topically, naphthifin quickly penetrates the skin, creating sustained antifungal concentrations in different layers of the skin, making once-daily use possible.

• fungal infections of smooth skin and skin folds
• finger mycoses
• fungal infections of the nails
• fungal infections of the nails;
• skin candidiasis;
• pickle capitis;
• dermatomycoses (with or without itching).

Active ingredient

Naftifin

Composition

Active ingredient: naphthyphine hydrochloride – 10.0 mg.

Auxiliary substances: propylene glycol – 50.0 mg, ethanol (ethyl alcohol 95%) – 400.0 mg, purified water – up to 1 ml.

How to take, the dosage

Externally.

In dermatomycosis and candidiasis of the skin.

Mycoderil®, topical spray, 1% is applied 1 time daily to the affected skin surface and its surroundings after thorough cleaning and drying, leaving approximately 1 cm of healthy skin at the edge of the affected area. Duration of treatment: in dermatomycosis 2-4 weeks (if necessary up to 8 weeks), in candidiasis – 4 weeks.

In lesions of the nails (onychomycosis).

Before the first use of the drug, remove the affected part of the nail with scissors and a nail file as much as possible. The drug is used 2 times a day, the duration of treatment for onychomycosis is up to 6 months. To prevent recurrence of the infection the drug should be continued for at least 2 weeks after the disappearance of clinical symptoms.

If after treatment, no improvement or worsening of symptoms or new symptoms occur, consult a doctor. Use the drug only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the directions for use.

The medicine you are taking is meant for you, and you should not give it to others, because it could cause them harm, even if they have the same symptoms as you do.

Mycoderil®, 1% topical spray, is effective for the treatment of mycosis affecting areas of the skin with hyperkeratosis and also in areas of hair growth.

Course treatment is required.

Contact of the drug to eyes and open wounds should be avoided.

Pediatric use

The drug should be used with caution in children.

Effects on the ability to operate vehicles, machinery

Mycoderil®, topical spray, 1% has no adverse effect on the ability to operate vehicles and other activities requiring concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to naphthyphine or propylene glycol; pregnancy and lactation (safety and efficacy of the drug in this category of patients has not been studied).

The application of the drug on the wound surface is contraindicated.

WARNING

In childhood (clinical experience limited).

Side effects

In some cases there may be local reactions: dry skin, skin hyperemia and burning. The side effects are reversible and do not require withdrawal of treatment. If any of the side effects mentioned in the instructions are aggravated, or any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions are noted, you should inform your doctor immediately.

Pregnancy use

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding (safety and efficacy of the drug in this category of patients has not been studied).
