Pharmacological properties

Mucaltin is a mixture of polysaccharides from marshmallow herb, has expectorant properties. Through reflex stimulation it increases activity of the atomizing epithelium and peristalsis of the respiratory bronchioles in combination with increased secretion of bronchial glands.

Composition

Active ingredient:

marshmallow herbal extract (mucaltin) – 50.0 mg;

Excipients: calcium phosphate 2-substituted anhydrous (calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous) – 219.03 mg, crospovidone (crospovidone SE) – 102.82 mg, tartaric acid – 42.40 mg, blackcurrant flavor* – 5.51 mg, calcium stearate – 4.24 mg.

* Flavoring composition: natural flavoring agent, maltodextrin – 62.5%, gum arabic (E 414) – 26.5%, triacetin (E1518) – 6.5%.

Pregnancy

The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, children under 12 years of age.

Allergic reactions are possible, and rarely – dyspepsia.

Interaction

Mucaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Mucaltin should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.
