Pharmacological properties

Mucaltin is a mixture of polysaccharides from marshmallow herb, has expectorant properties. Through reflex stimulation it increases activity of the atomizing epithelium and peristalsis of the respiratory bronchioles in combination with increased secretion of bronchial glands.

Indications

Acute and chronic respiratory tract diseases, accompanied by cough and the formation of sputum difficult to separate increased viscosity (including tracheobronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia) – in the complex therapy.

Composition

The active ingredient:

marshmallow herb extract (mucaltin) – 50.0 mg;

Excipients: calcium phosphate 2-substituted anhydrous (calcium hydrophosphate anhydrous) – 219.03 mg, crosspovidone (crosspovidone CE) – 102.82 mg, tartaric acid – 42.40 mg, black currant flavoring* – 5.51 mg, calcium stearate – 4.24 mg.

* Flavorings: natural flavoring agent, maltodextrin – 62.5%, gum arabic (E 414) – 26.5%, triacetin (E1518) – 6.5%.

How to take, the dosage

Ingestion.

Adults and children from 12 years: 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day before meals.

You can dissolve a single dose (1-2 tablets) in 1/3 cup of warm water.

The course of treatment is 7-14 days on average.

If during the treatment period there is no improvement, or if symptoms worsen, or new symptoms develop, you should consult a doctor. Use the medication only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the directions.

Interaction

Mucaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Mucaltin should not be used at the same time as preparations containing codeine and other anti-cough medicines, as this makes it difficult to expectorate the liquefied sputum.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles, mechanisms

The use of the drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving mechanisms, work of dispatcher, operator).

Synopsis

Round, biconvex tablets from light gray to brownish-gray in color with flecks of lighter and darker colors, with a characteristic odor of currant.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug components, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, children under 12 years of age.

Side effects

Allergic reactions and, rarely, dyspepsia are possible. If you experience or worsen the side effects mentioned in the instructions, or if you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, please inform your doctor.

Overdose

To date, no cases of overdose have been reported.

Pregnancy use

Using the drug during pregnancy and breast-feeding is possible by doctor’s recommendation.
