Indications

— correction and prevention of hypomagnesemia, including in diabetes mellitus, total parenteral nutrition, taking diuretics, muscle relaxants, chronic alcoholism, malabsorption;
— arrhythmia (supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia of the “pirouette” type);
– arterial hypertension, incl. hypertensive crisis with symptoms of cerebral edema;
– convulsive syndrome (leg cramps, muscle twitching, tremors and tetanic convulsions);
– preeclampsia and eclampsia;
– premature birth, late toxicosis of pregnancy;
– poisoning with heavy metal salts: arsenic, tetraethyl lead, soluble barium salts.

Magnesium sulfate

Composition

1 ampoule (5 ml) contains:

Contraindications

— myasthenia gravis;
— bradycardia;
– severe arterial hypotension;
— hypocalcemia;
— prenatal period (2 hours before birth)
— severe renal dysfunction (creatinine clearance less than 20 ml/min);
– hypersensitivity and hypermagnesemia.

Overdose

Symptoms: possible respiratory depression, depression of central nervous system functions, up to the development of anesthesia.

Treatment: calcium preparations – calcium chloride or calcium gluconate – are used as an antidote for an overdose of magnesium sulfate.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not exceeding 30 °C.
