Pharmacological action

Anti-inflammatory agent, has antimicrobial (bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes), keratoplasty effect. It has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and local anesthetic effects. The anti-inflammatory effect is associated with inhibition of the release of inflammatory mediators.

When applied externally, it accelerates the maturation of boils. When directly applied to the skin, it causes mild irritation of sensitive nerve endings, followed by a decrease in their sensitivity, which leads to the occurrence of reflexes that change the trophism of tissues. Causes denaturation of protein molecules.

When administered rectally, ichthammol has an irritating effect on the mucous membrane of the rectum, as a result of which blood circulation in the pelvic organs reflexively increases, metabolism improves, which helps eliminate inflammation in the prostate gland in men, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus in women.

Special instructions

The ointment is intended for external use only and is not recommended for use on open wounds.

Do not allow the ointment to come into contact with mucous membranes or eyes.

After applying the ointment, you must wash your hands thoroughly to prevent the ointment from getting into your eyes, nose, or mouth.
