Ichthyol ointment 10% 25 g

Anti-inflammatory agent has antimicrobial (bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) keratoplastic effect.

It accelerates the maturation of boils.

In case of direct action on the skin it causes slight irritation of the sensitive nerve endings changing their sensitivity which leads to occurrence of reflexes changing tissue trophicity. Causes denaturation of protein molecules.

Pharmacokinetics:

After application to intact skin under the occlusive dressing is slowly absorbed. Systemic absorption is 5-10%. Under absorption, a portion of the thiophenolic components of ichthammol is excreted into the bile and excreted from the body by the intestine.

Indications

Rye eczema pyoderma (including furunculosis).

Composition

100 g of ointment with the active substance concentration of 10% contains the active ingredient: ichthyol (ichthammol) – 10.0 g.

Auxiliary substances: Vaseline – 90.0 g.

How to take, the dosage

Externally.

Adults and children from 12 years of age apply a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin 1-2 times a day. If necessary, use a dressing.

The duration of the course and the specifics of the treatment regimen (both in children and adults) should be coordinated with the doctor.

Interaction

Incompatible with solutions of salts of iodine alkaloids salts of heavy metals zinc oxide.

Dimethylsulfoxide ethanol glycerol when applied simultaneously with ichthamol increases its systemic absorption and increases its depth of penetration into the soft tissues.

Special Instructions

The ointment is for external use only; it is not recommended to apply to open wounds.

The ointment should not come into contact with the mucous membranes and eyes.

Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the ointment to avoid getting the ointment in your eyes, nose and mouth.

Influence on ability to operate vehicles and machinery:

The drug has no effect on the ability to operate vehicles and machinery.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ichthamol or other components of the drug.

Children under 12 years of age.

Side effects

Local allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose are not described.

The treatment is symptomatic.

Pregnancy use
