It has an irritating effect on the mucous membrane of the large intestine, reflexively stimulating intestinal motility. Softens stools and facilitates their passage through the large intestine.

Pharmacokinetics

Glycerin is quickly and almost completely absorbed from the rectal mucosa. It is actively metabolized in the liver. It is one of the substrates for gluconeogenesis and increases plasma glucose levels.

With urine 7-14% is excreted unchanged.

Indications

Constipation of various origins; evacuation constipation in children from 3 months of age.

7–14% is excreted unchanged in urine.

Special instructions

With prolonged use, progression of disturbances in the physiological process of defecation is possible. Systematic use is not recommended. Treatment is stopped after restoration of normal intestinal motility. Do not lubricate suppositories with mineral liquid and solid oils.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms. The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, use is contraindicated due to possible reflex stimulation of the uterus.

During breastfeeding, use is possible after consultation with a doctor.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
hemorrhoids in the acute stage;
inflammatory diseases and tumors of the rectum.

With caution: renal failure.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions and local reactions (itching and burning of the skin) are possible.
