Evkazolin Aqua, spray 0.1% 10 ml

A vasoconstrictor for local use in ENT practice. Alpha-adrenomimetic.

When applied to the mucous membranes, it causes vasoconstriction, resulting in decreased local hyperemia and edema.

In rhinitis, it eases nasal breathing.

Pharmacokinetics

When used topically, it is practically not absorbed and plasma concentrations are so low that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion in colds, hay fever, other allergic rhinitis, sinusitis.

To facilitate the outflow of the secretion in diseases of the sinuses.

Auxiliary therapy of otitis media (to eliminate nasal mucous membrane swelling).

To facilitate rhinoscopy.

Active ingredient

Composition

1 g nasal spray contains:

xylometazoline hydrochloride (in terms of 100% substance) 1 mg;

Associates:

benzalkonium chloride (in terms of 100% substance) – 0.15 mg,

eucalyptus oil – 1 mg,

dinatrium edetate dihydrate – 0.15 mg;

propylene glycol – 60 mg;

Macrogol 1500 – 50 mg;

povidone (15) – 7.5 mg;

hypromellose (5) – 0.5 mg;

polysorbate 20 (tween 20) – 10 mg;

Sodium hydrophosphate dodecahydrate – 0.5 mg;

Potassium dihydrophosphate – 1 mg;

Injectable water – up to 1 g.

How to take, the dosage

Evkazolin Aqua, nasal spray, use in adults and children over 12 years.

Adults and children over 12 years of age:

1 injection in each nasal passage up to 3 times a day as needed. Use no more than 3 times in each nasal passage per day. The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease and should not exceed 10 consecutive days.

The dosing spray ensures accurate dosing and proper distribution of the solution over the nasal mucosa surface.

Before use, the dispensing device should be primed with a few injections until the spray begins to release into the air. With continued use, the dispenser is ready for immediate use.

The spray should be applied as follows:

– clean the nose thoroughly before applying the product;

– Hold the bottle upright with the thumb at the bottom and the tip between two fingers;

tilt the bottle slightly and insert the tip into your nostril;

– To inject while gently breathing through the nose;

– After use, you clean and dry the tip before covering the tip with the cap;

– To prevent infection, only one person can use each vial of product.

The last application is recommended just before bedtime.

Interaction

Xylometazoline interacts with other drugs only when it has a resorptive effect.

Other adrenomimetics may potentiate the effects of xylometazoline.

Adrenoblockers and sympatholytics, BCCs weaken its effect.

The drug increases the hypertensive effects of tricyclic antidepressants and MAOI inhibitors.

Special Instructions

The drug Evkazolin Aqua should not be used continuously for long periods (more than 7 days in a row).

The recommended doses of the drug should not be exceeded, especially when treating children and the elderly.

Perhaps use with caution when driving a motor vehicle or performing other types of work that require intense concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline or to any other component of the drug, acute coronary diseases, coronary asthma, hyperthyroidism, closed-angle glaucoma, transsphenoidal hypophysectomy and surgical interventions with exposure of the dura mater in the history, dry rhinitis (rhinitis sicca) or atrophic rhinitis. Concomitant treatment with MAO inhibitors and within 2 weeks after discontinuation of their use.

Side effects

In frequent and/or prolonged use – irritation and/or dry nasopharyngeal mucosa, burning and paraesthesia of nasal mucosa, sneezing, hypersecretion of nasal mucosa; swelling of nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased BP, headache, vomiting, insomnia, visual disturbances; depression.

Overdose

Symptoms: decreased body temperature, bradycardia, increased BP.

Treatment: symptomatic.
