Drotaverin-Teva, tablets 40 mg 40 pcs

Drotaverine is a myotropic antispasmodic. In its chemical structure and pharmacological properties it is similar to papaverine, but has a stronger and longer action.

Decreases influx of ionized calcium into smooth muscle cells due to inhibition of phosphodiesterase and intracellular accumulation of cAMP.

It has a pronounced and long-lasting effect on the smooth muscle of internal organs and blood vessels.

Dilates blood vessels, causes a moderate decrease in blood pressure, increases cardiac output, has some antiarrhythmic effect.

Decreases the tone of the cerebral vessels and increases their blood flow.

It has practically no effect on the autonomic nervous system and does not penetrate into the central nervous system.

Drotaverine has no anticholinergic effect, so unlike cholinolytic antispasmodics it can be used in glaucoma patients.

Indications

spasm of smooth muscles of internal organs (cardio- and pylorospasm),
chronic gastroduodenitis,
stomach and duodenal ulcers,
cholelithiasis (hepatic colic),
chronic cholecystitis,
postcholecystectomy syndrome,
hypermotor biliary dyskinesia,
spastic intestinal dyskinesia,
intestinal colic due to gas retention after surgery,
colitis,
proctitis,
tenesmus,
flatulence,
urolithiasis (renal colic),
pyelitis,
spasm of cerebral vessels, coronary and peripheral arteries, the need to weaken uterine contractions and relieve cervical spasm during childbirth,
spasm of smooth muscles during instrumental interventions,
dysmenorrhea,
strong labor pains.

Drotaverine hydrochloride can also be used as an adjuvant for hypertensive crises.

Pharmacological effect

Drotaverine does not have an anticholinergic effect, therefore, unlike anticholinergic antispasmodics, it can be used in patients with glaucoma.

Special instructions

When using the drug Drotaverin-Teva in patients with arterial hypotension, caution should be exercised.

Composition

Active substance:

drotaverine hydrochloride 40 mg.

Excipients:

potato starch 30.71 mg,

lactose monohydrate 57 mg,

crospovidone (Polyplasdon XL-10) 2.923 mg,

povidone (low molecular weight medical polyvinylpyrrolidone) 5.847 mg,

talc 2.05 mg,

magnesium stearate 1.47 mg.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the active substance (drotaverine hydrochloride) or to any of the auxiliary components;
severe liver or kidney failure,
severe heart failure (low cardiac output syndrome),
AV block II and III degrees,
cardiogenic shock,
arterial hypotension,
children under 12 years of age.

Side Effects

Side effects are classified according to the following frequency: very often – at least 10%; often – at least 1%, but less than 10%; infrequently – not less than 0.1%, but less than 1%; rarely – not less than 0.01%, but less than 0.1%; very rarely (including individual reports) – less than 0.01%; frequency unknown – insufficient data to estimate the frequency of the phenomenon in the population.

Interaction

When used concomitantly, drotaverine may reduce the antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa.

Overdose

There is no data on an overdose of Drotaverin-Teva.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
