Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. < br> < br> < br> Dexpanthenol is converted in the body into pantothenic acid, which is part of coenzyme A and is involved in the processes of acetylation, in the synthesis of acetylcholine, corticosteroids, porphyrins. < In addition, it is involved in virtually all metabolic processes (tricarboxylic acid cycle, metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and fatty acids, phospholipids, proteins, etc.), stimulates skin and mucous membrane regeneration, normalizes cellular metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers. < br> < br> It has regenerating, metabolic and weak anti-inflammatory effect. < br> < br> When applied externally it is quickly absorbed by skin and converted to pantothenic acid, binds to plasma proteins (mainly beta-globulin and albumin). < br> < br> Its concentration in blood is 0.5-1 mg/l, in blood serum – 100 µg/l. Pantothenic acid is not metabolized in the body (except for inclusion in Co-A) and is excreted unchanged.< br> < br> < br>
