A preparation for external application.
It has bacteriostatic activity against Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis, reduces production of fatty acids contributing to acne. It reduces the formation of comedones. By influencing the keratinization process of epidermal cells, it suppresses the growth and activity of abnormal melanocytes that cause melasma-type hyperpigmentation. It has anti acne and depigmentation effect.
Pharmacokinetics
Assimilation
After application to the skin, it penetrates the epidermis and dermis, 3.6% of the total dose is absorbed into the systemic bloodstream.
Metabolism and excretion
Part of absorbed acid is excreted by kidneys unchanged, part – as dicarboxylic acids (C7, C5) formed as a result of beta-oxidation.

Composition
On 100 g:
Azelaic acid in terms of 100% substance 15 g.
Auxiliary substances: benzoic acid – 0.1 g, methylpyrrolidone – 4 g, squalane – 1 g, propylene glycol – 8 g, edetate disodium – 0.1 g, sodium hydroxide – 0.25 g, dimethicone 100 cst – 1 g, macrogol cetoasteryl ether – 1.4 g, carbomer interpolymer (type A) – 1.4 g, purified water – to 100 g.
How to take, the dosage
Apply externally.
The gel should be applied to the pre-washed (with water or a mild cleanser) and dried skin. Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas of the skin twice a day (morning and evening) and gently rub in. About 2.5 cm of the gel is enough for the whole surface of the face.
In patients with acne vulgaris a significant improvement is usually observed after 4 weeks. For the best results the application of the drug should be continued for several months.
Interaction
Can be used in combination with other medicines for the treatment of acne.
Special Instructions
In cases of severe pronounced skin irritation in the first weeks of treatment the gel can be used once a day; short-term withdrawal of the drug is also possible. After the disappearance of symptoms of skin irritation should resume regular use of the drug in the recommended dose.
Avoid contact of the drug in the eyes and on the mucous membranes of the nose, lips and mouth, in case of accidental contact – rinse immediately with water. During treatment it is necessary to protect the skin from the full range of solar radiation.
Contraindications
– Hypersensitivity to the drug components.
With caution should be used the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breast-feeding).
Side effects
Skin and subcutaneous fat:at the beginning of treatment there may be local irritation, skin hyperemia and peeling, burning, erythema, itching that usually stops during treatment; possibly – skin allergic reactions.
Overdose
At present, no cases of drug overdose have been described.
