Sodium hyaluronate is a natural polymer that is present in human eye tissues.

The effect of VISMED® multi is related to the viscoelasticity property and the ability of sodium hyaluronate to bind and retain water.

VISMED® multi is characterized by high viscosity in the absence of blinking movement and low viscosity during blinking to ensure efficient distribution of the product on the eye surface preventing eye dryness and irritation.

Sodium Hyaluronate has an affinity to the tear mucoglycoprotein that helps increase tear film stability.

VISMED® multi, just like tear fluid, contains calcium, magnesium and potassium ions required to maintain the normal structure and function of the eye cornea.

The addition of sodium citrate to VISMED® multi helps maintain the viscoelastic properties in the presence of other ions.

The leading mechanism in the development of dry eye syndrome is tear hyperosmolarity. Due to its hypo-tonicity VISMED® multi is able to compensate hypo-rosmolarity.

VISMED® multi promotes regeneration of superficial keratitis by increasing cell migration.

Due to the unique combination of components VISMED® multi ensures prolonged corneal protection and relief of dry eye symptoms by restoring normal properties of the tear film.

Indications

VISMED® multi ophthalmic hydrogel in a 10 ml multi-dose dropper bottle is used for dry and irritated eyes in cases of dry eye syndrome and/or damages of the anterior eye surface in cases of superficial keratitis and Sjögren’s syndrome, primary dry eye syndrome.

And also for eye surface moisturizing in case of complaints of eye dryness, foreign body sensation in the eye, eye fatigue caused by hard or soft contact lenses, prolonged work at the computer, exposure to air conditioning, dust, dry air, wind or cold.

In the innovative VISMED® multi bottle the solution remains sterile for 3 months despite the absence of preservatives. The bottle is equipped with a dosing system which makes it easy to dispense.

How to take, the dosage

Remove the safety ring before using the container for the first time. Carefully remove the cap from the container.

Turn the container upside down without touching the pipette, locking it between your thumb and forefinger.

Before using, it is recommended to pump the pipette until the first drop of solution appears by pressing the top of the container several times with your index finger.

Tilt your head back, position the dispenser over your eye, and use the index finger of one hand to pull down your lower eyelid.

Push the container slightly and drip 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the eye as needed, unless otherwise instructed.

The liquid will spread evenly over the surface of the eye when blinking, forming a protective coating on the surface of the eye. VISMED® multi can be applied while wearing any type of contact lenses (rigid or soft) without removing them during the application.

Interaction

It is not recommended to use VISMED® multi simultaneously with other ophthalmic products as this may affect their effectiveness.

Special Instructions

Avoid contact of the open container tip with the eye or hands.

Place the cap back on the bottle after use.

The solution can be used for up to 3 months after the bottle is opened.

After this time, the solution should be discarded.

Failure to do so by the manufacturer does not guarantee the sterility of the solution, increasing the risk of infection.

If the container is visibly damaged then VISMED® multi should not be used.

If symptoms of dryness and irritation persist after using VISMED® multi, a doctor should be consulted.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.

Side effects

In very rare cases, conjunctival irritation, a feeling of a “foreign body” in the eye, redness or burning of the eye, and momentary “blurring” of vision may occur.
