Onsior tablets refers to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Robenacoxib, a part of the drug, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of coxib group, is a selective specific COX-2 inhibitor and has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. COX is present in two forms: COX-1, the constitutive form of the enzyme, performs protective functions, including in the gastrointestinal tract and kidneys; COX-2, the inducible form of the enzyme, is responsible for the production of mediators, including PGEs, that cause pain, inflammation and fever. When administered orally, robustacoxib is rapidly absorbed in the intestine, entering the systemic bloodstream and most organs and tissues; more than 99% of robustacoxib is bound to plasma proteins. Its maximum plasma concentration is observed after 0.5 hours, bioavailability is 49% in cats and 62% in dogs when using tablets with food and 84% without food. Robenacoxib is metabolized in the liver, excreted mainly with bile (about 70% in cats and about 65% in dogs) and partially with urine; half-life of dogs is about 1.2 hours, of cats – 1.7 hours. Onsior™ tablets according to the degree of effect on the body refers to moderately hazardous substances (Hazard Class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).
