Dechinel Plus, due to its active ingredients, has antiparasitic activity against cestodes: Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Diphyllobothrium latum, Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Taenia spp. and nematodes: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria spp, Ancylostoma spp., Trichuris vulpis. Febantel, moderately absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, causes inhibition of tubulin protein synthesis and glucose entry process in nematodes, simultaneously inhibiting fumaratreductase – enzyme responsible for energy metabolism of helminthes. Pirantel Embonate is very poorly absorbed by oral administration and therefore, has its effect directly on the surface of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract of the sick dog. It blocks nematode neuromuscular impulse transmission and causes paralysis of helminth muscles, so parasites are easily eliminated from the gastrointestinal tract of the host. Praziquantel is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and has devastating effect on cestodes (tapeworms) due to increased permeability of parasite cell membranes for calcium ions and inhibition of fumaratreductase, which causes spastic contraction of parasite muscles, turning into paralysis. Praziquantel is excreted with bile unchanged. Dechinel Plus in terms of its effect on the body of warm-blooded animals refers to low-hazardous substances and in recommended doses has no sensitizing and hepatotoxic effect.
