Trypsin is a proteolytic enzyme obtained from the bovine pancreas. It hydrolyzes proteins and peptones to form relatively low-molecular-weight peptides and cleaves high-molecular-weight products of protein decomposition polypeptides like peptones containing certain amino acids (arginine lysine).

In medical practice the use of trypsin is based on the specific feature of cleaving necrotic tissues and fibrinous formations to liquefy viscous secretions and exudates and with intramuscular administration to have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Indications

Bronchiectasis, lung abscesses, exudative pleurisy, postoperative atelectasis, pleural empyema; treatment of purulent wounds and burns;

Special instructions

The drug should not be injected into areas of inflammation or into bleeding cavities.

The drug should not be administered intravenously.

Trypsin should not be applied to the ulcerated surfaces of malignant tumors to avoid the spread of the malignant process.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, heart failure, pulmonary emphysema with respiratory failure, decompensated form of pulmonary tuberculosis, liver dystrophy and cirrhosis, infectious hepatitis, kidney damage, pancreatitis, hemorrhagic diathesis.

Increased body temperature, tachycardia.
Soreness and hyperemia at the injection site when administered intramuscularly.
Inhalation of trypsin may cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and hoarseness of the voice.

Interaction

Only during inhalation can bronchodilators and antibiotics be added to the solution.
