A counteractant, has retinoprotective (when administered subconjunctivally) and metabolic effects. Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid formed in the body during cysteine metabolism.
It promotes normalization of cell membrane functions, activation of energy and metabolic processes, preservation of electrolyte composition of cytoplasm due to accumulation of potassium and calcium cations and improvement of nerve impulse conducting conditions.
Pharmacokinetics
In local administration systemic adsorption is low.
Indications
The drug is used as part of complex therapy. Corneal dystrophy; cataract (senile, diabetic, traumatic, radiation); corneal injury (as a stimulator of reparative processes). Primary open-angle glaucoma in combination with β-blockers (to improve the outflow of intraocular fluid).
Pharmacological effect
An anti-cataract agent, it has a retinoprotective (when administered subconjunctivally) and metabolic effect. Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid formed in the body during the metabolism of cysteine.
Helps normalize the functions of cell membranes, activate energy and metabolic processes, preserve the electrolyte composition of the cytoplasm due to the accumulation of potassium and calcium cations, and improve the conditions for nerve impulse conduction.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, systemic adsorption is low.
Special instructions
The preservative contained in the drug may irritate the eye when wearing contact lenses, so any contact lenses should be removed before instillation and put on no earlier than 15 minutes after it. If it is necessary to simultaneously use other ophthalmic drugs (eye drops, etc.), the interval between the use of taurine and other drugs should be at least 10-15 minutes.
After opening, use within 14 days.
The ability to influence the speed of reactions when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms
There is no data on the possibility of a negative effect of the drug on the performance of potentially hazardous activities that require special attention and quick reactions (driving a car and other vehicles, working as a dispatcher, etc.).
