Interaction
No clinically significant interactions with other drugs were found. Simultaneous use of the drug with other topical antimicrobial agents is possible.
Ascorbic acid increases absorption of drugs of penicillin group, iron, reduces the clinical effect of heparin and indirect anticoagulants, increases the risk of crystalluria during treatment with salicylates and sulfonamides of short action, delays renal excretion of acids, increases excretion of drugs with alkaline reactions (including alkaloid.including alkaloids), reduces the blood concentration of oral contraceptives.
Enhances total clearance of ethanol, which in turn reduces the concentration of ascorbic acid in the body.
The quinoline-type drugs, calcium preparations, salicylates, glucocorticosteroid drugs with long-term use deplete ascorbic acid reserves.
In concomitant use reduces the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline.
In long-term use or use in high doses may interfere with the interaction of disulfiram and ethanol.
In high doses increases excretion of mexiletine by the kidneys.
Barbiturates and primidone increase ascorbic acid excretion by the kidneys.
Decreases the therapeutic effect of antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics) – phenothiazine derivatives, tubal reabsorption of amphetamine and tricyclic antidepressants.
Special Instructions
It is recommended that the drug be taken in as short a course as possible and in the lowest effective dose necessary to relieve symptoms.
Patients with diabetes should be aware that each tablet contains about 2.6 g of sugar (0.22 IU).
High doses of ascorbic acid increase oxalate excretion, contributing to the formation of kidney stones. Newborns whose mothers have taken high doses of ascorbic acid and adults who have taken high doses may experience “ricochet” scurvy. With prolonged use of high doses there may be suppression of pancreatic insular apparatus function.
In patients with elevated iron content in the body ascorbic acid should be used in minimal doses.
Ascorbic acid as a reducing agent can distort the results of various laboratory tests (blood and urine glucose, bilirubin, activity of “hepatic” transaminases and lactate dehydrogenase).
The drug does not influence the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery as well as engage in other potentially dangerous activities requiring high concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications
Side effects
The following adverse reactions have been reported with short-term use of the drug in the recommended doses. When treating chronic conditions and with long-term use, other adverse reactions may occur.
The incidence of adverse reactions was evaluated based on the following criteria: Very common (⥠1/10), common (⥠1/100 to < 1/10), infrequent (⥠1/1000
to < 1/100), rare (⥠1/10 000 to < 1/1000), very rare (< 1/10 000),
frequency unknown (data to estimate frequency are not sufficient).
Immune system disorders
Frequency unknown: hypersensitivity reactions.
Gastrointestinal tract disorders
Prevalence unknown: nausea, abdominal pain, feeling of discomfort in the mouth (burning or tingling sensation, swelling).
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
Prevalence unknown: rash.
If the above or other adverse reactions occur that are not listed in the instructions, discontinue use of the drug and seek medical attention.
Overdose
Low probability, possible overdose may lead to gastrointestinal discomfort: nausea.
High doses of ascorbic acid (over 3000 mg) may cause temporary osmotic diarrhea and gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, abdominal discomfort, rapid urination, and nephrolithiasis.
Treatment: symptomatic under medical supervision, forced diuresis.
