Spazgan is a combination drug, belongs to the group of aldehydic and antispasmodic agents. The drug consists of: non-narcotic analgesic sodium metamizole (analginum), myotropic antispasmodic agent pitophenone hydrochloride and choline-blocking agent fenpiperinia bromide.
Methamisole is a derivative of pyrosolone. It has analgesic, antipyretic, and mild anti-inflammatory effects.
Pitophenone, like papaverine, has a direct myotropic effect on the smooth muscles of internal organs and causes them to relax.
Phenpiveryinia has an additional relaxing effect on the smooth muscles due to its cholin-blocking action.
The combination of the three components of the drug leads to a mutual strengthening of their pharmacological action.
Indications
Active ingredient
Composition
Active substances:
Sodium metamizole 2.5 g,
Pitophenone hydrochloride 10 mg,
Phenpiperinia bromide 100 µg
How to take, the dosage
In colic patients the drug is administered intravenously 1 ampoule (5 ml) slowly over 5-8 minutes.
Repeated administration is possible after 6-8 hours.
The drug can be given intramuscularly, but it takes 20-30 minutes to take effect.
Interaction
Simultaneous use of Spazgan with other non-narcotic analgesics may lead to a mutual increase in toxic effects.
Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, allopurinol impair metabolism of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxicity.
Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the effects of metamizole. Concomitant use with cyclosporine reduces the blood levels of the latter. Sedatives and tranquilizers increase the analgesic effect of Spazgan.
If the simultaneous use of the above and other drugs is necessary, the doctor should be consulted.

In patients suffering from bronchial asthma, taking this drug may provoke a seizure.
