Pharmacological properties

It has a local irritant and analgesic effect.

The neurotropic component of snake venom in the composition has an analgesic effect; the enzymatic component with hyaluronidase activity accelerates the healing process.

It irritates sensitive receptors in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, dilates blood vessels, improves tissue trophism.

Indications

Diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the peripheral nervous system, accompanied by pain syndrome: arthritis of various etiologies, arthralgia, neuralgia, myalgia.

Active ingredient

Composition

venom of common viper – 5 mouse action units,

Salicylic acid – 1 g,

synthetic camphor – 3 g,

turpentine oil – 3 g.

Assisted substances – emulsifier №1 (LanetteX) – 8 g,

solid petroleum paraffin – 3 g,

Medical Vaseline – 7 g,

Glycerol (glycerin) – 2 g,

Sodium chloride 0.9% isotonic infusion solution – 8 g,

Injectable water up to 100 g.

Description:

The ointment is white or white with a slightly yellowish tint with a smell of camphor and turpentine.

How to take, the dosage

Outwardly, 5-10 g (1-2 teaspoonfuls) of the ointment is applied in portions to the area of pain and rubbed into the skin 1 time a day, or 2 times a day if there is severe pain until the pain syndrome disappears, but not more than 10 days without medical advice.

Interaction

The drug causes skin hyperemia and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, in connection with which combined use with other drugs of local action may lead to increased absorption. The use of large amounts may increase the toxicity of methotrexate and reduce the therapeutic effect of hypoglycemic agents. Do not use the drug with oral anticoagulants.

Special Instructions

Wash hands thoroughly after using the drug. Avoid getting the ointment in the eyes, on the mucous membranes and on damaged skin. If the ointment gets in the eyes or on the mucous membranes, rinse them with plenty of water.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, skin diseases (including allergic and pustular diseases). allergic and pustular, skin integrity disorders at the site of application), active pulmonary tuberculosis, febrile states, general exhaustion, severe insufficiency of the cerebral and coronary circulation, tendency to angiospasm, severe hepatic or renal failure, pregnancy, breastfeeding, intolerance to salicylates, children under 6 years of age.

With caution

Children under 6 to 18 years of age (the necessity of the drug in children is determined by the physician individually.) Indications in the history of bronchial asthma, provoked by taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Side effects

The burning sensation that occurs during rubbing usually subsides after a few minutes. In isolated cases – skin allergic reactions, which disappear after cancellation of the drug.

In order to avoid side effects, it is recommended that a small amount of ointment be applied to the skin in advance to determine sensitivity to the drug.

Overdose

When using the drug in the recommended dose, no cases of overdose have been reported.
