Phenibut is a nootropic medicine.
Removes tension, anxiety and fear, improves sleep. It prolongs the latent period and shortens the duration and severity of nystagmus, has an antiepileptic effect.

How to take, the dosage
Phenibut is used orally before meals, for a course of 4-6 weeks.
Adults are prescribed in an average dose of 250-500 mg 3 times a day; if necessary, the dose is increased to 2.5 g/day. The maximum single dose is 750 mg, for people over 60 years old 500 mg.
For children from 2 to 8 years old – 50-100 mg 3 times/day, maximum single dose – 150 mg; for children 8-14 years old – 250 mg 3 times/day, maximum single dose – 300 mg.
To relieve alcohol withdrawal syndrome in the first days of therapy, the drug is prescribed for 250-500 mg 3 times a day and 750 mg at night, with gradual reduction of the daily dose to the usual for adults.
In otogenic labyrinthitis and Meniere’s disease during exacerbation – 750 mg 3-4 times a day for 5-7 days, when the severity of vestibular disorders decreases – 250-500 mg 3 times a day for 5-7 days and then 250 mg once a day for 5 days. In a mild course of the disease, 250 mg 2 times a day for 5-7 days, with subsequent reduction of the dose to 250 mg once a day for 7-10 days.
For the treatment of vertigo in disorders of the vestibular system of vascular and traumatic genesis – 250 mg 3 times a day for 12 days.
For prevention of motion sickness – 250-500 mg once 1 hour before the intended trip (the effect is dose-dependent).
Interaction
When used together, Phenibut prolongs and enhances the effects of hypnotics, neuroleptics, anticonvulsants and opioid analgesics.
Special Instructions
The drug is prescribed with caution in erosive-ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract.
Long-term use requires monitoring of liver function parameters and peripheral blood count.
Impact on driving and operating machinery

Side effects
CNS disorders: increased irritability, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, headache, drowsiness.
Digestive system disorders: nausea (in the first administration).
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.
Overdose
Symptoms: drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, arterial hypotension, renal failure. When prolonged use of Phenibut at a daily dose of 7-14 g the development of hepatotoxic effects (including fatty liver dystrophy), eosinophilia is possible.
Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic and supportive therapy.
