Combination drug, has antispasmodic, hypotensive, vasodilatory effects. Bendazol is an antispasmodic agent of myotropic action; it has hypotensive, vasodilatory effects, stimulates spinal cord function, has moderate immunostimulatory activity.
Papaverine is an antispasmodic agent and has hypotensive effect. It inhibits phosphodiesterase, causes accumulation of cAMP and decrease of calcium in cells, tones down and relaxes smooth muscles of internal organs (gastrointestinal, respiratory and urogenital systems) and blood vessels.
In high doses it reduces excitability of the heart muscle and slows intracardiac conduction. Action on CNS is weak (in high doses it has sedative effect).
Indications
— Arterial hypertension (labile);
– spasm of peripheral arteries and cerebral vessels;
– spasm of smooth muscles of internal organs (including peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, spasm of the pylorus, intestinal colic, cholecystitis, spastic colitis);
— poliomyelitis (residual effects);
– peripheral facial palsy.
Pharmacological effect
The combined drug has antispasmodic, hypotensive, vasodilating effects. Bendazole is an antispasmodic agent with myotropic action; has a hypotensive, vasodilating effect, stimulates the function of the spinal cord, and has moderate immunostimulating activity.
Papaverine is an antispasmodic and has a hypotensive effect. Inhibits phosphodiesterase, causes the accumulation of cAMP in the cell and a decrease in calcium levels, reduces the tone and relaxes the smooth muscles of internal organs (gastrointestinal tract, respiratory and genitourinary systems) and blood vessels.
In large doses, it reduces the excitability of the heart muscle and slows down intracardiac conduction. The effect on the central nervous system is weak (in large doses it has a sedative effect).
Special instructions
During the treatment period, alcohol intake should be avoided.
The drug should be prescribed with caution and in small doses to elderly and debilitated patients, as well as patients with traumatic brain injury, impaired liver and kidney function, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, and prostate hypertrophy.
Active ingredient
Bendazole, Papaverine
Composition
Active substances:
bendazole hydrochloride (dibazole) – 30 mg,
papaverine hydrochloride – 30 mg;
excipients:
potato starch – 56 mg,
talc – 3 mg,
stearic acid – 1 mg,
talc,
stearic acid – 1 mg.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy and lactation, the safety of the drug has not been established.
Therefore, the use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Contraindications
— AV conduction disorders;
– epileptic syndrome;
– broncho-obstructive syndrome;
– children under 3 years of age;
– hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Prescribed with caution in case of reduced intestinal motility, traumatic brain injury, liver and/or kidney failure, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, prostatic hyperplasia, during pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects
From the digestive system: nausea, constipation.
From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness.
From the cardiovascular system: AV blockade, arrhythmias, decreased myocardial contractility.
Other: allergic reactions, increased sweating.
Interaction
Pharmacodynamic: when used simultaneously with antispasmodics, sedatives, diuretics (dichlorothiazide, diacarb, furosemide, spironolactone, etc.), tricyclic antidepressants, procainamide, reserpine, quinidine sulfate, the hypotensive effect may be enhanced.
Weakens the effect of anticholinesterase drugs (galantamine, proserine, physostigmine, etc.) on smooth muscles; reduces the antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa.
With the combined use of Papazole and nitrofurantoin, hepatitis may develop. Pharmacokinetic: adsorbents, astringents and enveloping agents reduce the absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose with Papazole are a combination of symptoms of overdose with papaverine and bendazole.
Symptoms of papaverine overdose: diplopia, weakness, drowsiness, lethargy.
Symptoms of bendazole overdose: arterial hypotension, decreased tissue perfusion, arrhythmia, headache, weakness.
Treatment: gastric lavage, activated carbon.
