Ophthalmoferon, eye drops 10 ml

Oftalmoferon® is antiedematous topical, antiproliferative, antipruritic, antihistamine, anti-allergic, immunomodulatory, antiviral.

Pharmacodynamics

Oftalmopheron® is a combined drug containing antiviral and immunomodulatory agent interferon alfa-2b human recombinant and antihistamine diphenhydramine.

Interferon human recombinant alpha-2b has a wide range of antiviral activity, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative action. Diphenhydramine – blocker of H1-histamine receptors – has anti-allergic effect, reduces conjunctival edema and itching.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, the drug is not subject to systemic absorption. Concentration of active substances in blood is much lower than the detection limit (detection limit of interferon alfa-2b is 1-2 IU/ml) and has no clinical relevance. There is no information about the degree of penetration of diphenhydramine into various tissues of the eye after local administration.

Indications

adenoviral, hemorrhagic (enteroviral), herpetic conjunctivitis;
adenoviral, herpetic (vesicular, punctate, tree-like, map-shaped) keratitis;
herpetic stromal keratitis with and without corneal ulceration;
adenoviral and herpetic keratoconjunctivitis;
herpetic uveitis and keratouveitis (with and without ulcerations);
dry eye syndrome;
prevention of graft disease and prevention of relapse of herpetic keratitis after keratoplasty;
prevention and treatment of complications after excimer laser refractive surgery of the cornea.

Pregnancy

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible only as prescribed by the attending physician, if the expected effect exceeds the risk of complications in the fetus and newborn.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
