Ophthalmoferon, eye drops 10 ml

Oftalmoferon® is antiedematous topical, antiproliferative, antipruritic, antihistamine, anti-allergic, immunomodulatory, antiviral.

Pharmacodynamics

Oftalmopheron® is a combined drug containing antiviral and immunomodulatory agent interferon alfa-2b human recombinant and antihistamine diphenhydramine.

Interferon human recombinant alpha-2b has a wide range of antiviral activity, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative action. Diphenhydramine – blocker of H1-histamine receptors – has anti-allergic effect, reduces conjunctival edema and itching.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, the drug is not subject to systemic absorption. Concentration of active substances in blood is much lower than the detection limit (detection limit of interferon alfa-2b is 1-2 IU/ml) and has no clinical relevance. There is no information about the degree of penetration of diphenhydramine into various tissues of the eye after local administration.

Indications

Conjunctivitis, Herpes, Allergic conjunctivitis, Inflammatory eye disease, Dry eye syndrome

• adenoviral, hemorrhagic (enterovirus), herpetic conjunctivitis;
• adenoviral, herpetic (vesicular, pitting, tree-shaped, kart-like) keratitis;
• herpetic stromal keratitis with or without corneal ulceration;
adenoviral and herpetic keratoconjunctivitis;
• herpetic uveitis and keratouveitis (with or without ulceration;
• dry eye syndrome;
prevention of graft disease and prevention of herpetic keratitis recurrence after keratoplasty;
• prevention and treatment of complications after excimer laser refractive corneal surgery.

Composition

1 ml of eye drops contains:

Active substances

• Interferon human recombinant alpha-2 – at least 10000 ME.
• Dimedrol – 0.001 g.
• Boric acid – 0.0031 g.

Auxiliary substances

Polyvinylpyrrolidone – 0.01 g,

Polyethylene oxide – 0.05 g,

Trilon B – 0.0004 g,

Hypromellose – 0.003 g,

Sodium chloride – 0.004 g,

Sodium acetate – 0.007 г.

How to take, the dosage

Conjunctivally.

In case of viral eye lesions in adults and children in the acute stage of the disease the drug is put into the conjunctival sac in 1-2 drops up to 6-8 times a day. As the inflammatory process subsides the number of drops is reduced to 2-3 times a day until the symptoms disappear.

In case of dry eye syndrome the drug is used daily by putting 1-2 drops in the affected eye 2 times a day for 25-30 days until the symptoms are gone.

For the prevention and treatment of complications after excimer laser refractive surgery of the cornea the drug is used daily from the day of surgery by putting 1-2 drops in the eye 2 times a day for 10 days.

In order to prevent graft disease and to prevent recurrence of herpetic keratitis after keratoplasty the drug is used daily by putting 1-2 drops in the operated eye 3-4 times a day for the first 2 weeks after surgery.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Pregnancy use

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible only by prescription of the attending physician, if the expected effect exceeds the risk of complications in the fetus and newborn.
