Pharmacological group: Drug with choleretic and antispasmodic action

Pharmacological action
The diuretic drug. Increases the formation and excretion of bile. It has a selective antispasmodic effect on the bile ducts and sphincter of Oddi. The drug does not decrease gastrointestinal peristalsis and BP.
Limits bile stasis, prevents cholesterol crystallization and thus development of cholithiasis.
Pharmacokinetics
absorption and distribution
After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Cmax in blood after oral administration is reached after 2-3 hours. Weakly bound to plasma proteins.
Elimation
The T1/2 is about 1 hour. It is excreted in the urine: about 93% – as glucuronate, 1.4% – as sulfonate, 0.3% – unchanged.
Indications
Biliary dyskinesia, cholecystitis, appetite disorders, nausea, cholelithiasis, constipation, biliary colic – Biliary dyskinesia and sphincter of Oddi type (hyperkinetic);
– Biliary dyskinesia and sphincter of Oddi type. – Chronic cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis;
– conditions after surgical interventions on the gallbladder and biliary tracts;
– decreased appetite, nausea, constipation, vomiting (due to bile hyposecretion).

Composition
The tablets are white to white with a yellowish tint, round, flat cylindrical, beveled and engraved on one side with the letters “Ch”.
1 tablet:
Himecromone 200 mg
Associates: potato starch – 45 mg, gelatin – 3 mg, sodium lauryl sulfate – 1 mg, magnesium stearate – 1 mg.
How to take, the dosage
The drug is used orally 30 min before meals.
Adults are prescribed 200-400 mg 3 times a day. The daily dose is 1200 mg. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.
If a dose is missed, take the drug as soon as possible. If the time of the next dose is approaching, do not take the missed dose. Do not take a double dose of the drug to make up for a missed dose.
Interaction
Concomitant use of morphine, which causes spasm of the sphincter of Oddi, weakens the effect of Odeston.
When using Odeston concomitantly with metoclopramide there is a mutual weakening of action.
Odeston increases the effects of indirect anticoagulants.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.

– Crohn’s disease;
– Gastric and duodenal ulcer;
– Haemophilia;
– Child and adolescent age under 18;
– Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.

Side effects
Digestive system: diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal mucosal ulceration.
Others: allergic reactions, headache.
Overdose
No cases of overdose of Odeston have been reported at this time.
