Lutein is a carotenoid that serves as natural protection of the retina from too much bright light.

Leaxanthin is a yellow pigment from the xanthophyll group that accumulates in the human retinal pigment and serves as a defense mechanism against light-induced cell damage and promotes the destruction of lipofuscin.

Vitamins C and E and the minerals zinc and selenium contained in the vitamin-mineral complex “OQUAIT® forte”, being natural antioxidants, help reduce the effect of harmful factors and preserve the vision, strengthen blood vessels, including those of the fundus.

Vitamin C is one of the main antioxidants necessary for humans. It participates in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood coagulation, regulates the recovery of visual pigments, reduces elevated intraocular pressure and reduces the risk of glaucoma.

Vitamin E serves as a biological antioxidant that inactivates free radicals and thus prevents their formation. It prevents increased capillary fragility and permeability. It prevents the appearance and development of cataracts.

Zinc is involved in the process of antioxidant protection of cell membranes. It protects the eyes from damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet light and bright light. Intake of zinc helps to slow age-related changes in the retina. Zinc deficiency may lead to decreased color perception and formation of cataracts.

Selenium is a strong antioxidant that protects cells from the toxic effects of peroxide radicals.
