Nystatin is fungistatic.

Binding with sterols in the cell wall of fungi, it violates its permeability, which leads to the release of the main components of the cell.

It is active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, including Candida albicans.

It does not have cumulative properties.

Indications

Candidiasis of the mucous membranes (including the vagina, rectum and lower intestines), skin and internal organs; prevention of candidiasis during long-term treatment with antibacterial agents, especially in depleted and weakened patients.

Pharmacological effect

Nystatin is fungistatic.

Composition

1 suppository contains:

Active substance:

nystatin 500,000 units;

Excipients:

sufficient quantity to obtain a suppository weighing 2.1 g – butyloxyanisole,

pure antioxidant for medical purposes;

food grade ionol (butyloxytoluene) or dibunol;

food grade citric acid;

medical vaseline oil;

vitepsol.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, liver dysfunction, pancreatitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, pregnancy.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sometimes fever, chills.

There may be a risk of spread of resistant forms of fungi (requires discontinuation of the drug).

Interaction

With simultaneous use of nystatin with clotrimazole, the activity of the latter decreases.

In a dry place, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 20 °C. (away from fire)
