Nystatin, ointment 100000 units/g 30 g

Nystatin is a polyene antifungal antibiotic that is highly active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. It has a fungicidal effect.

The antibiotic has a large number of double bonds in its structure with high affinity to sterol structures of the cytoplasmic membrane of fungi, which promotes incorporation of the drug molecule into the cell membrane and formation of numerous channels through which uncontrolled transport of electrolytes occurs.

Elevated osmolarity inside the cell leads to cell death.

Indications

Fungus, Cutaneous itching

Candidiasis of mucous membranes (including the vagina, rectum and lower intestines), skin and internal organs; prevention of candidiasis during long-term treatment with antibacterial agents, especially in emaciated and weakened patients.

Ancillary substances:

Lanolin anhydrous;

Vaseline medical.

How to take, the dosage

The ointment is applied thinly to the affected areas of the skin and mucous membranes 1-2 times a day, daily for 7-10 days.

May be combined with taking the drug orally.

Interaction

The simultaneous use of nystatin and clotrimazole reduces the activity of the latter.

Special Instructions

Use of the ointment can be combined with ingestion of Nystatin.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, liver function disorders, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, pregnancy.

Side effects

Skin itching rashes fever chills and allergic reactions are possible.
