How to take, the dosage
The drug is injected intramuscularly (deep injections into the gluteal muscle).
Treatment is recommended to start with intramuscular injection of 1 ampoule (3 ml) per day until acute symptoms are relieved.
After symptoms improve or in cases of moderate disease severity: 1 ampoule 1-3 times a week for 2-3 weeks.
For maintenance therapy, for relapse prevention or continuation of the current course of treatment we recommend the drug Neurobion® in another dosage form (film-coated tablets).
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor.
Interaction
When used concomitantly with levodopa, pyridoxine may decrease the antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa.
The concomitant use of pyridoxine antagonists (e.g. isoniazid, hydralazine, penicillamine or cycloserine) may increase the need for pyridoxine.
Thiamine is inactivated by fluorouracil. Fluorouracil competitively inhibits the phosphorylation of thiamine to thiamine pyrophosphate.
Antacids reduce thiamine absorption.
Petal diuretics such as furosemide may block tubular resorption, thereby increasing thiamine excretion with prolonged use, resulting in lower blood thiamine levels.
Ingestion of alcohol and black tea leads to decreased thiamine absorption.
Drinks containing sulfites (such as wine) increase the degradation of thiamine.
Special Instructions
The drug should not be administered intravenously.
The clinical picture as well as laboratory tests in funicular myelosis or pernicious anemia may lose their specificity with vitamin B12 administration.
Neurobion® has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Overdose
Vitamin B1. Thiamine has a wide therapeutic range. Very high doses (>10 g) have a ganglioblocking effect and inhibit nerve impulse transmission, i.e. have a myorelaxant effect.
Vitamin B6. Pyridoxine has very little toxicity. Use of pyridoxine for 2 months or more at a dose greater than 1 g per day may cause neurotoxic effects.
In case of overdose after oral administration of more than 2 g per day the following effects were observed – neuropathies with ataxia, impaired sensitivity, cerebral convulsions with ECG changes, as well as, in some cases, hypochromic anemia and seborrheic dermatitis.
Vitamin B12. Eczematous skin changes and a benign form of acne have been observed after parenteral administration of a high dose (and in rare cases after oral administration).
Treatment: therapeutic measures in case of overdose are gastrointestinal lavage, activated charcoal intake, prescription of symptomatic therapy.
