Neo-Angin N is an antimycotic, antiseptic, local anesthetic.
The two dosage forms contain three active ingredients – 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amyl methacresol and levomenthol. 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol is a derivative of benzene and amyl methacresol is a derivative of phenol. Levomenthol is a cyclic monoterpene.
Neo-Angin® H has an antiseptic and slight local anesthetic effect due to the combination of the three active ingredients: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amyl methacresol and levomenthol. Antiseptics are active against pathogenic microorganisms that infect the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat.
The most common pathogens causing pharyngitis are gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms such as staphylococci, pneumococci, fusobacteria and especially Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, Branhamella catarrhalis. Pathogenic fungi, yeast fungi, in particular Candida albicans are pathogens.
Infections of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa result in different types of inflammation with symptoms of colds, stomatitis, candidiasis, gingivitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis and angina.
The main effect of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amyl methacresol is due to activity on the mucosal surface and both interact with cell membrane lipids, which explains the effectiveness against bacteria and fungi.
Levomenthol complements the action of the other two active substances and has a slight anesthetic effect based on the stimulation of cold receptors in the mucosa.
With its three active ingredients, Neo-Angin® H is used to treat infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat. The drug enables effective early treatment, thus reducing the need for antibiotics. Neo-Angin® N reduces symptoms of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat.
The drug is well tolerated and has a pleasant taste.
Based on years of practical experience with the product, it has been shown that there is no decrease in efficacy against pathogenic microorganisms with continued use of the product.
The active ingredients of the drug cause local antiseptic and slight local anesthetic effect when the tablet is slowly resorbed in the mouth. Adhesion of the active ingredients on the mucosa helps to prolong the effect on the mucosa.
All components of the drug are quickly absorbed and rapidly excreted.
The metabolite of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid is 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid, which is excreted by the kidneys as acid or as a glycine compound. Amylmethacresol is oxidized to acid and excreted through the kidneys as glucuronide. Levomenthol is excreted with the urine as glucuronide.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx (pharyngitis, laryngitis, uncomplicated forms of tonsillitis, stomatitis, gingivitis), accompanied by severe pain in the throat and difficulty swallowing.

Occasionally, the causative agents are pathogenic fungi, yeast fungi, especially Candida albicans.
