Pharmgroup:
The anticongestive agent is a vasoconstrictor (alpha-adrenomimetic).
Pharmic action:
Nasol is an alpha-adrenostimulant for topical use.
Oxymetazoline belongs to the group of alpha-adrenergic stimulants for topical use. It has a vasoconstrictor effect.
In intranasal administration reduces swelling of the mucous membrane of the upper airways, which leads to easier nasal breathing and opening of the mouths of the sinuses and eustachian tubes.
The action of the drug is seen 10-15 minutes after application and lasts for 10-12 hours.
Indications
For relief of nasal breathing when:
– colds and viral upper respiratory tract infections
– Sinusitis and rhinitis of any etiology.
Active ingredient
Composition
1 ml:
– oxymetazoline hydrochloride 500 mcg
Supplementary substances:
benzalkonium chloride (50% solution),
benzyl alcohol,
povidone,
propylene glycol,
sodium hydrophosphate,
sodium dihydrophosphate,
purified water.
How to take, the dosage
Intranasally. Adults and children over 12 years of age – 2 – 3 injections of Nasol in each nasal passage 2 times a day.
Children from 6 to 12 years – 1 injection into each nasal passage 2 times a day.
Nasol should not be used more than 2 times a day. Duration of treatment: it is not recommended to use the drug for more than 3 days.
If the drug is used frequently or for a long time, the feeling of nasal breathing difficulties may reappear or worsen. If these symptoms occur, discontinue treatment and consult a physician.
When injecting, do not tilt your head back and do not spray while lying down.
Interaction
In concomitant use of Nasol with MAO inhibitors (including a period of 14 days after their withdrawal) and tricyclic antidepressants, an increase in BP may be observed.
The drug slows the absorption of local anesthetic drugs and prolongs their effect.
Co-administration of other vasoconstrictors increases the risk of side effects.
Special Instructions
In the recommended dosage without consulting a doctor, use no more than 3 days.
Avoid getting the drug in the eyes.
The product must be used individually to avoid spreading infection.
Synopsis
Contraindications
– hypersensitivity to the drug Nazol or its components;
– atrophic rhinitis;
– children under 6 years of age;
– pregnancy;
– lactation period.

The drug Nasol should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases (arterial hypertension, CHD, chronic heart failure, tachycardia, arrhythmia), carbohydrate metabolism disorders (diabetes mellitus), thyroid function (hyperthyroidism), pheochromocytoma, chronic renal failure, prostatic hyperplasia (urinary retention) and closed-angle glaucoma, taking MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants.
Side effects
Sometimes burning or dry nasal membranes, dryness in the mouth and throat, sneezing, increased nasal secretion.
In rare cases, after the effect of the drug passes, a strong feeling of “stuffy” nose (reactive hyperemia).
Systemic side effects of the drug: increased BP, headache, dizziness, palpitations, increased anxiety, nausea, insomnia.
When using the drug for a long time (more than 7 days) the following is possible: reactive nasal mucous membrane hyperemia, nasal mucous membrane atrophy and tachyphylaxis (rapid decrease of the therapeutic effect if repeated use).
Overdose
Prolonged or frequent use of Nasol in the nasal cavity may cause nausea, increased BP, tachycardia, CNS depression.
The treatment is symptomatic.
