Naphtisin, spray 0.1% 15 ml

Naphthizin has a rapid, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect on the nasal mucosa vessels (reduces swelling, hyperemia, exudation).

It eases nasal breathing in rhinitis. After 5-7 days tolerance occurs.

How to take, the dosage

Intranasally (into each nasal passage), 1-3 drops 3-4 times a day in adults.

Interaction

Inhibits absorption of local anesthetic agents.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended for chronic rhinitis.

In long-term use it should be taken into account that the vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases (phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), so after 5-7 days of use it is recommended to take a break for a few days.

Contraindications

High sensitivity to the drug components, arterial hypertension, marked atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, chronic rhinitis, severe eye disease, diabetes mellitus; tachycardia; simultaneous use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and period up to 14 days after their use, age under 18 years (for 0.1 % solution), age under 1 year (for 0.05 % solution).

Side effects

Reactions caused by the local action of the drug: mucous membrane irritation, reactive hyperemia, when used for more than 1 week – mucous membrane edema, atrophic rhinitis.

Reactions caused by the systemic action of the drug: nausea, headache; in some cases in predisposed patients – increase in BP, tachycardia.
