Naphtisin, drops 0.1% 15 ml

Alpha-adrenomimetic.

In application to the mucous membranes, it has a fast, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect.

Indications

Runny nose;
allergic rhinitis;
conjunctivitis;
laryngitis;
acute rhinitis;
sinusitis;
eustachitis;
rhinoscopy (to facilitate the procedure).

Pharmacological effect

Alpha adrenergic agonist.

When applied to the mucous membranes, it has a rapid, pronounced and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect.

Special instructions

It is not recommended for use for chronic rhinitis.

With long-term use, it should be taken into account that the vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases (the phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), therefore, after 5–7 days of use, it is recommended to take a break for several days.

Composition

1 ml drops contains:

Active ingredient:

naphazoline nitrate 1 mg;

Excipients:

boric acid,

purified water.

Contraindications

– hypersensitivity to naphazoline or any of the excipients
arterial hypertension,
severe atherosclerosis,
thyrotoxicosis, severe eye diseases, including angle-closure glaucoma,
chronic rhinitis,
atrophic rhinitis,
diabetes mellitus
tachycardia, simultaneous use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and within 14 days after the end of their use,
for a solution of 0.05% – children under 2 years of age,
for a solution of 0.1% children under 15 years of age.

With caution
Coronary heart disease (angina), prostatic hyperplasia, pheochromocytoma, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side Effects

Reactions caused by the local action of the drug: irritation of the mucous membrane, reactive hyperemia, when used for more than 1 week – swelling of the mucous membrane, atrophic rhinitis.

Reactions caused by the systemic effect of the drug: nausea, headache, in some cases in predisposed patients – increased blood pressure, tachycardia.

Interaction

Do not combine with MAO inhibitors (after stopping their use, prescribe the drug no earlier than 14 days later).

Prolongs the effect of local anesthetics used for superficial anesthesia.
