The remedy is of vegetable origin.
The marshmallow root contains vegetable mucus (up to 35%), asparagine, betaine, pectin substances, starch.
It has a coating, emollient, expectorant, anti-inflammatory effect.
The plant mucus covers the mucous membranes with a thin layer that remains on the surface for a long time and protects them from irritation.
The result is less inflammation and easier spontaneous tissue regeneration.
The protective effect of the film of plant mucus on the mucous coat of the stomach is stronger and prolonged the higher the acidity of the gastric juice (the viscosity of plant mucus increases in contact with hydrochloric acid).
