Pharmacodynamics

Mucaltin is a mixture of polysaccharides from the herb marshmallow, has expectorant properties. Through reflex stimulation it increases the activity of the atomizing epithelium and peristalsis of the respiratory bronchioles in combination with increased secretion of bronchial glands.

Indications

Acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough with the formation of difficult-to-discharge sputum of high viscosity (tracheobronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis) – as part of complex therapy.

Composition

Active substance:

Marshmallow herb extract (mukaltin, dry extract) 50.0 mg;

Excipients:

sodium bicarbonate 86.5 mg,
tartaric acid 158.9 mg,
povidone (low molecular weight medical polyvinylpyrrolidone) 1.6 mg,
calcium stearate 3.0 mg.

Pregnancy

The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;
children’s age (up to 12 years).

Interaction

Mucaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases. Mucaltin should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.

Overdose

To date, no cases of overdose have been reported with the use of the drug.
