Magnesium is a preparation of magnesium. Magnesium is a macronutrient required for many energy processes, is involved in the metabolism of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and nucleic acids.
Magnesium is involved in the process of neuromuscular excitation by inhibiting neuromuscular transmission. Magnesium is of particular interest as a natural physiological calcium antagonist. Magnesium controls the normal functioning of myocardial cells, is involved in the regulation of myocardial contractile function. In stressful situations, increased amounts of free ionized magnesium are excreted, so that additional amounts of magnesium contribute to resistance to stress.
Magnesium deficiency leads to neuromuscular disorders (motor and sensory hyperexcitability, seizures, paresthesia), mental changes (state of depression, confusion and hallucinations), cardiovascular disorders (ventricular extrasystoles, tachycardia, hypersensitivity to cardiac glycosides). Magnesium deficiency during pregnancy increases the likelihood of toxicosis and premature birth. Salts of orotic acid are involved in the metabolic process. In addition, orotic acid salts are necessary for magnesium fixation to ATP in the cell and its manifestation.
Pharmacokinetics
The absorption is approximately 35-40% of the dose taken. Hypomagnesemia stimulates absorption of magnesium ions. The presence of orotic acid salts promotes magnesium absorption. Magnesium is excreted by the kidneys, the excretion decreases in magnesium deficiency and increases in magnesium excess.
Indications
Cramps of the calf muscles, Prevention of heart attacks and strokesAn established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficiency conditions, accompanied by symptoms such as increased irritability, minor sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal cramps, increased fatigue, pain and muscle cramps, tingling sensation in the muscles.
If after one month of treatment there is no reduction of these symptoms, continuation of treatment is not advisable.
Active ingredient
Magnesium orotate
Composition
Active ingredient:
Magnesium orotate dihydrate 500 mg;
Auxiliary substances:
colloidal silicon dioxide, 2.5 mg;
sodium carmellose, 10 mg;
MCC – 67.5 mg;
Corn starch – 22.5 mg;
p> povidone K30 – 30 mg;
lactose monohydrate – 50 mg;
sodium cyclamate – 1.5 mg;
talc, 18.75 mg;
magnesium stearate, 1.63 mg;
How to take, the dosage
Overly, before meals, with a small amount of liquid.
Prescribe 2 tablets 3 times a day for 7 days, then 1 tablet 2-3 times a day daily.
The course duration is at least 4-6 weeks. If necessary Magnerot® can be used for a long time.
In case of nocturnal cramps of the calf muscles, it is recommended to take 2-3 tablets in the evening.
Interaction
When concomitant administration of magnesium-containing drugs with iron preparations, sodium fluoride and tetracyclines may reduce absorption of the latter. In addition, aminoquinolines, quinidine, penicillamine should not be administered simultaneously with magnesium preparations. Therefore, these drugs should be taken 2-3 hours apart. Oral contraceptives, diuretics, muscle relaxants, glucocorticosteroids, insulin reduce the effect of the drug.
Magnesium should be used with caution if you are taking magnesium-containing medications such as antacids or laxatives, or potassium-saving diuretics or calcium-containing medications. When concomitant use with drugs containing aluminum, aluminum absorption in the body may be increased.
Magnesium should be used with caution when used concomitantly with foxglove drugs because concomitant use may impair absorption of foxglove drugs.
Some antibiotics (aminoglycosides), cisplatin and cyclosporine A may result in increased magnesium excretion.
Some diuretics (thiazides and furosemide), cetuximab and erlotinib, proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole and pantoprazole), foscarnet, pentamidine, rapamycin and amphotericin B may cause magnesium deficiency and thus lead to a reduced effect of Magnerot®.
Special Instructions
Magnerot® can be used for a long time.
. It should be taken into account that diseases of gastrointestinal tract, consumption of food with low magnesium content, sports activities (due to increased sweating), and chronic alcoholism (due to decrease of magnesium resorption in renal tubules and increased magnesium ions excretion) may lead to magnesium deficiency in the body, intake of certain drugs (cardiac glycosides, aminoglycoside antibiotics, oral contraceptives, diuretics, laxatives, GCS), conditions requiring increased magnesium intake (hypodynamia, stress, pregnancy and lactation), prolonged exposure to the sun.
Impact on the ability to drive a car or perform work requiring increased speed of physical and mental reactions. The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and other activities requiring high concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
.
Synopsis
White or nearly white round flat tablets with bevels on both sides and a groove on one side.
Features
Approximately 35-40% of the administered dose is absorbed. Hypomagnesemia stimulates absorption of magnesium ions.
Contraindications
- high sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug
- renal dysfunction
- pelvic stone disease
- predisposition to form calcium-magnesium-ammonium-phosphate stones;
- liver cirrhosis with ascites;
- lactose intolerance;
- glucose-galactose malabsorption;
- children under 18 years of age.

Side effects
The incidence of adverse reactions cannot be determined on the basis of available data.
Gastrointestinal tract disorders: unsteady stools and diarrhea, which go away on their own when reducing the dose of the drug.
Immune system disorders: allergic reactions.
If any of the side effects specified in the instructions worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not specified in the instructions, inform your doctor.
Overdose
With normal renal function, ingestion of magnesium does not cause toxic reactions.
Pregnancy use
The drug can be used during pregnancy and lactation (breast-feeding) on indication, because during these periods the need for magnesium increases significantly.
If its content is not balanced, it may lead to serious complications, including pregnancy failure.
The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child.
