Antiseptic agent. The main active ingredient is molecular iodine, which has antiseptic properties.

When applied to large surfaces of the skin iodine has a resorptive effect: it affects the thyroid function. Local action is caused by the ability of elemental iodine to precipitate tissue proteins.

The drug, which detaches elemental iodine, has a much less pronounced irritating effect. The effect of the drug on metabolism is manifested by strengthening of dissimilation processes.

Light and temperature above 40 ° C accelerate the decomposition of active iodine. The preparation should have a dark brown color. Discoloration of the solution indicates the destruction of the complex with the transition of active iodine to iodide-ion and decreased effectiveness of the drug.

Alkaline or acidic environment, the presence of fat, pus, blood weaken the antiseptic activity.

Contact in the eyes should be avoided.
